we rescued a Yorkie Terrier last April Fools Day - sorry don't have a pic at the moment. She had been part of a Puppy Mill in Lexington County for six years. Maemi barely lived through her experience in the shelter. She has 3 legs but has come a looong way. She weighs less than 4 pounds.
She is now part of our 'pack' - another Male and Female Yorkie.
When the time comes to adopt (not anytime soon!) it will be another Rescue for us.
As soon as our vet says she's ready, the spaying will happen.
Whirlcool, I respect your opinion completely. The shelters get their share of 'gift' pets that the recipient did not want after all and that's IF the pet is lucky enough to even make it to the shelter in the first place. One reason my family gave Jenny to me was that they knew ahead of time that I was receptive. I envy your strength for being able to work at a shelter. I'd want to take everyone home and I know I can't do that. Well, someone's tugging at my pant leg for attention, so I gotta go...
