The notices in the Tide section of my grocery store's shelves announcing that "Tide Pods Are Coming!" worked, as I picked up a 14-pod bag of them Thursday.  I chose the Spring Meadow scent.

1) A bag of 14 cost $4.99, which works out to....what, about $.35 per load? Not cheap, at a any rate.

2) They are certainly convenient. The package says to use one for most loads; two for heavily-soiled loads.  You toss them directly into the drum of a front-loader.

3)  I've washed four loads with them (one pod each) and the pods have dissolved quickly. They did not migrate to the front of the tub and hang themselves up on the door seal.  All four loads were lightly-to-moderately soiled, and all items emerged clean in the Normal cycle using warm, very soft water.

4) I was hoping this might be Tide's clean-rinsing product.  Wrong!  The suds were just as tenacious as other liquid Tide products.  On that subject:  I recently switched over to powdered Tide HE with Bleach Alternative as my daily driver, and have found it rinses out a bit better than the liquid version.

5)  I have a huge load of highly stained whites to wash this afternoon.  That should really test its cleaning power.  I'm only going to use one pod, as I use a similarly small dose of powdered UK Persil Bio for such loads with excellent results---and no suds in the final rinse!

6)  Stench alert:  These pods must be half perfume.  Cheap, sticky-icky-god-awful perfume.  And it doesn't dissipate in the dryer.  My bed sheets smelled for two days. To make matters worse, the scent morphed a bit as it aged, which made my bedroom smell like there was a trash can full of warm, unrinsed beer cans in it.

7) I probably won't buy these again; but I wanted to give them a try.

Thanks for taking the time to try these and letting us all know the results. I am somewhat detergent sensitive and need a crystal clear rinse. Plus I still get a giggle when I think of our Laundress' trial with the Tide Rose/Water Lily detergent.
Even her ironing board reeked after using the stuff in her laundry. Nope, we won't even entertain the thought at using these. Even though we are somewhat pleased with Tide compact powder.

They weren't on the shelves of one of our local stores but they had display boxes proclaiming "Coming Soon!" for the Tide pods.  Glad to hear the warning about the warm beer-can scent, was this the only flavor they offered?  The store did have some of the new Purex pods and the Arm & Hammer pods, but I'll hold off until they are on sale.

Local Supermarkets

Have sample packs of Tide Pods attached to various bottles of liquid detergents. Am sure some are going "missing" as sticky fingered shoppers seek a free trial. *LOL*

Have so much Tide liquid in my stash (it's on sale every week somewhere in our area) that don't see one needing either that or the pods anytime soon.

Launderess---Re: "sticky-fingered shoppers" Funny you should mention that! I saw the single-pod samples hanging from jugs of various Tide liquids and thought---just for a moment, mind---that I could easily grab one of the samples and tuck it in my pocket. Can you imagine the humiliation of getting nailed for shoplifting over a single pod of Tide, LOL? I left the store with good karma intact.

@frigilux

Am quite sure while your better nature won out, others aren't going to be that good.

Bottle goes into shopping basket, Tide pod comes off and into a coat pocket or handbag, bottle goes back onto shelf (minus the free sample), repeat as necessary. *LOL*

Just for a lark am going to see if any are missing next time one is at the supermarket.

So something I didn't realize at first. Only the Ajax, Dynamo and Fab "toss ins" are actually powders. All others are liquids. Hmmm...

I am happy these are back. I used the wisk tablets till they were pulled of the market. Tide I can not use there stuff at all can but I break out and itch all over.

I picked up a pack of purex free and clear and like them. I just hope they stay this time around, The bag I got is 36 loads and was $4.98 walmart.

But thinking why did this item make a come back it was only a few years back there were tablets out there on the market.

1 big thing I like about them even the first time I used them wisk. When going to a hotel there nice light and easy to bring and do your own wash cheap.
