Just drove 2 1/2 hours today to San Jose where I found these on Craigslist. Hubby and I even found time to tour the Winchester Mystery House while we were there!

Will get them unloaded tomorrow (it's 100 degrees here at 6:30pm so not going to tackle it until early morning when it's cooler). Assume they must be late 70s/early 80s. They are in working order, just need cleaning up. And both came with original operating/installation instructions, etc.

Will post model and serial numbers so hopefully someone can help me get a vintage on them. Am really happy to have found the washer -- I had one very similar that was lost in last year's fire. And oddly enough, same color, and I also found that one in San Jose!

Great Machines

Enjoy them in good heath. Do you have another washer that you can drain the wash water into to improve water efficiency? Is the dryer gas or electric? I am happy that you are being able to rebuild your collection.

Tom, thanks for the well wishes. The dryer is electric and needs a new heating element. I have not had much time to set up my "extended" laundry room yet so these Maytags are my daily drivers in the real laundry room in the house. Will have to work on the Whirlpools in the garage until I can get the other room ready for more machines. But I can't pass anything up when I find them!

DADoES, thank you for helping me get a date on these. I figured they were around that time period, especially after reviewing all the literature that came with them.

YAY!

For HARVEST GOLD!
They are in really great shape!
Standard Capacity, Super Surgilator, and a manual lint filter.

Nice set you found there.  Our local appliance monopoly-store sold many of these sets and lots of them survived for many years.  This one looks great, even the dryer top is in decent shape.  You're well on  your way to a new collection,  how many machines do you have space for in the new room?

Nice score, Todd!  That's the WP series that managed to knock Maytag out of CR's top spot.  Still, I'm glad to see you're keeping that beautiful Maytag pair in the prestigious household location they deserve.  IMO, it's hard to beat an 806 for options, silky smooth operation, and build quality.

Congratulations, Todd!  Both machines look to be in great shape.  It was meant for you to find these as replacements for the ones you lost - may they serve you well!
