When I was working in Mexico, I started with a Supermatic, one tub semi automatic. Very, very long strokes and was excellent at cleaning! I then moved onto a Frigidaire combo with very fast short strokes. I was so disappointed with the wash performance. There was no extra rinse, which feel is very necessary.
Now I am living in the uk. I would love to add an american washer to my collection.
So I am looking for the best washing performance, with long strokes from the agitator and a good spin with extra rinse, available in the uk.... am I asking too much????

very sorry all...

maybe this should have been on the other forum... sorry.
The frigidaire Toggle, had two very short bursts of about 5-7 secs each and that was your lot when it came to spray rinses.
You had one deep rinse, but when doing absorbent towels etc, I used to have to put them through a full regular wsh cycle without detergent just to get red of the suds.... very poor work, in my opinion. However, I would seriously look at other models if I could find out which are good for washing and rinsing results.

Hotpoint

Hi Peter

What about the UK Hotpoint TL, granted its only 5.5kg, but long stroke, filter flow, 2 full deep rinses & 1050 rpm,

they are cropping up on ebay all the time, last one went for £40...

AND, also theres an F&P Smart Drive Excellence on ebay, possible motor fault....only £8, ....good to go for a project...

If you're going new,

why not look in the classified adverts in BBC GoodFood ? There were several dealers.

(Oh, how I love BBC GoodFood. Almost never get it anymore, because it is not cheap this side of the pond.)

Thanks guys!

Thanks Mike! I would love either of these machines, just looking toward the future at the monent...

Tell me.. How did F&P come to be in the uk? Were they ever on sale here? After reading the manual online for the F&P newer models, I was hooked!!
The Hotpoint TL would be great, you also answered a long burning question about the rinses on that too, so Thanks again!!
Maytag bear... nice to see BBC good food is enjoyed in your neck of the woods! I take it it is a magazine?
Just incase, I have put a link to the website for you.... you probably have it already but it is great for recipies!!
Thanks again both of you for taking the time to give me some hints!

Peterbear :)

The "BBC GoodFood" to which I referred is a rather delicious food magazine. Editorial director Orlando Murrin is a hot otter-y guy.

I'm waiting for them to give Nigel Slater a programme. He deserves one more than Ainsley, in my opinion.
