Hi ozzie908, you're not saying what machine you have... how did you get it with 2 broken machines? Sorry I'm puzzled

Plenty of generalisations here I see... however, you're budgeting a fair whack of dosh for a new washer, so, investing in a Miele seems to be a reasonable answer.

Some1 mentioned V-zug which I'd personally put in front of Miele within the financial brackets given... but I might be biased due to the fact that I have been surrounded by non-Swiss people who've been washing my brain during my entire life on how good, genuine and honest anything baked in Switzerland could be... well, I was born there LOL

Besides the joke... I feel I'd choose my Hoover washer hoover and hoover again... oops... over and over again... I spent only a third of that suggested sum of money and I've been enjoying trouble free service everyday for 6 and half years... I'd say that qualifies for a 'no bad' for a budget machine! Although, to be fair... having spent 1 third of the price tag suggested above I should expect it to last only 1 third of the average high end machine's life span... well, I might as well start thinking about getting a new washing machine myself then! But somehow it doesn't sound right, I like to think that it's not going to conk out any time soon: I grew affectionate to it!

As far as I understood, you've made up your mind and it's good that you have: be motivated and love your appliance... TLC is often the answer! My comment here isn’t really aimed at helping you decide at this stage, I only wanted to give my humble contribution to such a great site

I was not very clear at all I do appologise.

What I did was get 2 broken Aqualtis' I made sure that one had a bearing problem and the other an electrical issue and thats how I made two broken ones into one good one...

I'm with everyone else on this. If you can afford it, go for a Miele machine. You certainly won't regret it. My 6kg Miele holds WAY more than my brothers 8kg Hotpoint thing. I have no balancing issues, spins perfectly, it's quiet, it looks great and the cycle options are so practical.

Having said that, they ARE expensive. I have heard good things about Gorenje and Fagor machines. The top end Gorenje is currently half the price of the bottom end Miele (link attached). I've not had much experience with these machines myself, but I have heard good things from various people - both on here and from people I know. I'm sure one of the experts on here would be able to give you some more insight into these machines.

You see now that just on this forum there is me and dave886 that had aqualtis for a such small time and it failed.. btw don"t you have a YouTube channel with some vids of Aqualtis with broken bearrings - is that you and your current machine (as far as I understood you changed 3 of them?)?

S: I am glad you finally replaced your Hoover, and I"m also sorry you had such bad luck with Hoover . really wish you all the best with Siemens, hope you will get us more info soon!

But it seems after my Aqualtis I found "my peace" about whole horrible story in Candy, and Dave this time is going to do that with much more "fancy" choice!

In my experience I would highly recommend LG. I had the first intellowasher model with the large door and no jet. I loved that machine and was sorry to leave it when I moved. Having said that I am now a Miele owner LOVE my machine and as people have mentioned in previous posts for a 6kg machine it holds a LOT of washing. I have a W1613 as I loved the style of it but would probably go for a model without the double skinned door if I were buying a new machine.

If Miele did not exist I would certainly go for an LG, Panasonic or if money was no object, a V-Zug 8kg model.

don't get it twisted i haven't even said whats wrong with it and your jumping to conclusions the machine still works fine, i'm already getting someone to buy it off me for 470pounds so im good! don't get me mistaken aqualtis machines are good

by the way reason why i am getting wid of it is because there's library card stuck in between the drum and the rubber and the guy who is buying says he can remove it, and the machine is still brand new like the first day i got it, so by this, i have decided to up my game and get above average machine

Glad it's not broken!

I'm glad the Aqualtis isn't actually broken & can see where the embarrasment stems from (ie forgetting to get the Library Card out of the pocket it was in), but the situation was easy to mis-read & presume the Hotpoint had died!

LG seem to have a loyal fan base. My personal reasons for being un-convinced are the child-like programs, which now even more manufacturers seem to be using *bangs head* (ie 'Shirts', 'Jeans', 'Bedding'). This annoys me because if you don't know what standard-named cycle to put such items on then you ought not to be living by yourself as far as im concerned!

The flashing lights/LEDs - Some are nice but they seem to go abit too far down the route of wooing people with looks, which makes me question the substance beneath.

Our neighbour had a mid-range one, looked after it & it only lasted 4 years, which for the price is rubbish i think. Finally i'm not arsed about the obsession with fast spins & massive drums so they don't appeal to that side of me either.

Granted they may be decent machines & Darren's one certainly looks to have character, but they just don't have my name on them.

Dave 886 New Washer.

I would buy a Miele if you can afford one. I have the Miele Homecare and love it to bits. Great washing cycles, you can set the machine to have deep rinses, very quiet machines.

Some LG machines seem to be around the same price range of Miele. Having never owned a LG machine I can not comment on them.

defo go for a miele...

I believe they do last for 15-20 years if cared for properly of course. The downside to that is you will get bored, or change taste during that time. Many Miele machines that are on eBay are there due to a kitchen refit, or a house move.

And sorry, but I hate LG with a vengance. We had an intellowasher about ten years ago, and it took FOREVER to balance, it would constantly distribute for hours, most of the time it would abort spin, annoying! And this was for normal loads too, just plain clothes not towels or heavy duvets too! We were going to buy an LG steam recently, thinking that the issue would be ironed out by now, but on some comment thread, people were complaining that their machines took forever to balance. I know it could have been an installation issue, but every other machine we've had since then takes less than half a minute to balance, not hours!
