Holy cow. I have too many vacuums.

But will only a few more added hurt? Oh my...

Went to my favorite goodwill (the final store before the stuff is taken to dump)

You can sure bet I fell over when I found THESE!!!!
The only other rare vacuum I found in here was my 1936 Hoover 450 and a bad eureka cordaway boxtop.

Meet my new to me, Montgomery Wards Upright!!! Holy cow! SUPER AWESOME! Square handle. Bag says SUPREME. The base and hood seem plastic. No headlight.

GREEN!!! Matches my truck. Hood is a seafoam shade. Bag is green (not sure if original) and base is dark green

has that cool distributor brush roll.

(Pardon the messy truck! Its been a while since a good cleaning)

AT LAST, its an ATLAS!

WOW! My heart skipped a beat when I saw this in a bin under a pillow. Has a plastic hose, but original wands and floor tool!

Its very very dirty. Most of that stuff you see is dust. Haven't done anything to it. Just put it in the truck and snapped a picture.

Definitely worth the $21 for these two.

That Ward's is a super incredible, super rare find! I've never seen anything like that. The Eureka versions are rare enough as it is -- but the Ward's... My god.
It looks like it's going to clean up nicely, too! Please keep us posted on its progress as you bring it back to life! I want to see that machine sometime!

Just goes to show that if you are persistent... and go a lookin', you never know what you're going to find.... and there are still plenty of finds to be found!

Nice vacs Brandon

Especially like the MW; it sort of reminds me of my mom's old early 50's Eureka. It was tan with a light brown square handle. The base was metal - I think cast aluminum. Unfortunately it bit the dust over 20 years ago, but I still have some of the attachments. Was looking at Vacuumland the other day, and saw a pic of it; belongs to Morgan (Vinvac). Does the hose adapter go in the front top on yours?

Well I got the wards wiped down.

Still got to wash bag, and remove sticker residue from hood, but otherwise its BEAUTIFUL!

THAT IS A HEADLIGHT! Neato! I thought it was a piece of chrome.

Base is Metal.

TWO SPEED!!!!!!!!!! WOW! Didn't see that one coming. Way cool. Middle is off, top is high, and bottom is low speed. (found that out after I took pic, and had yet to run it!)

Base has a few light scratches.What you see in the picture is really the only thing on the entire machine.

Look at that primitive belt cover! It screws on.

Brush roll is wood with metal ends. Adjustable for bristle wear. Metal fan.

Seems to be missing something over the belt part over brush roll.

In black it reads in a stamped print- 6765

I just cant ID this motor at all!! No amp ratings.

Bottom looks just like the old Eureka we had, with the screw-on belt cover. Ours had a little hook tool that was clipped to the bottom for help in installing the belt. I remember ours having a black rubber cord and the same plug. I've got the instruction card packed away somewhere, maybe I'll come across it sometime. The card said "Eureka-Williams Co. Division of National Union Electric Co. Bloomington, IL". Yours looks to be a little newer, maybe late 50's.

Just as Sears doesn't disclose the manufacturer's name (Whirlpool, Hamilton Beach, etc.) on their model tags, Montgomery Ward didn't either. I'm sure if you looked up the patents, they would be issued to the Eureka-Williams Co.

Well aparently the Wards is a late 50s model.

I would have NEVER guessed it was nearly that old! Its in too good of condition. I was expecting late 70s, as a throwback model or something.

Aside from a few base scratches, the thing is nearly brand new.

Runs great too!

I would think that the Wards is an early-possibly mid-50s model.. I recently found a most fascinating article about the Eureka Williams company from about 1947, I really need to scan and post it on here. I learned a lot of good trinkets of info re: Eureka. There was also mention of when and how they went about private labeling the cleaners for Wards.

Looks good so far.. love the square handle.. is that plug replaced, or molded on to the end of that cord? If it's molded, I would say it's probably original. I think you are also missing a "belt guard" sort of thing, like the model 63 has. If that's the only thing missing from this machine, who cares.. lol..

Thanks! It is possible that its a bit earlier.

The cord- I will have to double check.(machine is "in storage") It feels quite vintage. The rubber is soft and pliable. Reminds me of the early hoover rubber plugs. Not like a convertible cord.

Yep it appears to be missing something on the base. But I am not worried about that!

As to the atlas. I just cleaned it up a bit. Not perfect, but it looks millions times better.

Those marks that look like big scratches in the picture above, near the bag door, are actually tape residue marks. Someone apparently taped the lid shut at one point in time.

Fred, please do post the info about Eureka when you have the time.
I do think it is supposed to have a spring loaded narrow metal piece over the belt area. From what I remember, when the adapter is put in to use the tools, it raises the front of the machine a little. It's just been so long since I've used or seen it.
