I still love milk out of glass bottles

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I was at an estate sale last fall, and the house had exactly the same model milk door as no. 171 that Ralph posted above in #491890.  The inside door was integrated into the cabinets in the breakfast nook.  I took a peek inside, and it was lined with tin, and most likely some type of insulation.

Sam

the last time I was in that area visiting, was 2003, for a funeral, afterwards I took my neice and nephew there for lunch, you thought the pricing was from 50 years ago, the burgers were 25 cents, fries .15, and soda .25....3 of us ate for under 2.00.....try that at McDonalds.....I love that area, its like a throwback in time, especially Gabrielle's for clothing, my partner and I went there, 2 shopping carts overflowed, spent 88.00, and had to jam all the bags into the trunk and back seat, there was no room for anything else....next time I am taking a U-Haul...lol

Martin,

It is definetly like stepping back in time, though I dont believe Peachins prices are what they used to be. It seems like the rural areas of Washington, Greene, and Fayette counties is like a time warp, I mean where else can you shop at those prices, and still know people who still use outhouses and wood/coal cook stoves

"old-fashioned dairy delivery to the world's busiest

In Manhattan then have local milk delivery, marketed as an organic, no antibiotics etc variant for the health crowd.

It is actually a retro restart and only a few years old, ie 2007

There are pockets of niche milk markets that have restarted in the USA with milk delivery

Nice to see that happening

Same with poultry and beef, as well as crops.

We try to support as much of it as possible, without getting ourselves hosed financially. I figure the more these "better" food producers are supported, the more the price will come down, and hopefully, the more of them there will be.
