The washer used to be a 1968 Custom Deluxe WCDATN with a dented white cabinet but I switched the control panel with one from a 1968 Canadian Rapidry washer. I fixed and repainted the white cabinet to match my Sunny Yellow Canadian 1967 Imperial Filtrator dryer. Now I need to find a control panel from a 1966 DCIAK dryer and modify it to fit the washer to make a matching pair. I had the porcelain redone on the lid of the washer but couldn’t afford to have the rest of the cabinet done in porcelain like the dryer. I’m still quite happy with the result.

Please everyone keep an eye open for a dryer control panel that I could modify as I don’t think I’ll find a 1967 Canadian washer control panel... A 1966 WCIAK washer’s panel wouldn’t work as it has an extra hole for the reset button which 1967-70 machines don’t have and there are two holes for the rotary controls instead of the 6 push buttons on the right. I’d rather add 6 holes to a 1966 dryer control panel!

In the worst case, I guess I could just try to match my current 1968-70 panel with the 1967 panel of the dryer but it wouldn’t have the embossed lines of the 1965-67 machines.

I'll keep my eyes open for you. To be honest, I don't think I've ever seen a Frigidaire washer or dryer older than the 90's in BC. I'm not sure why??? However, they must exist and it always seems that you run into things where you least expect to.

Christina, Steve will provide me his 1965 Imperial dryer panel so I can modify it. I think I should be able to make it look close to what the original 1967 washer panel looked like. It would have been easier for me to find a 1968-70 dryer control panel to match the washer but it wouldn't have been correct as 1967 was the last year for the non-vented Filtrator dryers.

Hi Phil,
I noticed in one of your pictures in your first post that you are holding a paint gun with a container that seems to fill from the top and most likely needs no or little lacquer thinner to get the job done. Would this be considered a low velocity/low volume gun? I want to be able to spray paint an epoxy or lacquer based paint that goes on evenly and drys quickly with the lowest overspray possible.

I’ve spent my fair share of time operating a lacquer gun, but that was on furniture. It was mostly an outdoor job as there was plenty of overspray and the lacquer had to be thinned. I want to get away from this with appliance painting. I think l will be using car paint that is an epoxy base with lacquer thinner. O’reilly paint most likely, unless you have a better idea. They can mix up rattle cans for me but considering the amount of painting I will be doing I’d be better off investing in a gun.

Are there an gun brands that you would recommend or any other suggestions that you could pass my way? I would be very appreciative.

Brian, I don't know much about spray guns, the one in the picture is a primer gun with a 1.8 nozzle. Both this one and my paint gun are DeVilbiss Finish Line, both gravity guns, HVLP, mid-priced models. I think my paint gun has a 1.5 nozzle.
