TRULY MAGNIFICENT!
Well, at 9:30pm, the UPS truck finally pulled up and the driver helped me carry and extremely heavy box into the house. I CAREFULLY cut open the box and after pulling out lots of styrofoam, there she was, all mummified like an ebay treasure.
Finally got her unwrapped and plugged her in. One twist of the knob and... MUSIC!!! Loud, crisp, music boomed out of the speakers like a hi-end stereo. AMAZING! How could a stereo that size sound so good.
The next test was the turntable. I picked up Bon Jovi (hehehe) and set it up on the spindle. One twist of the knob and the tonearm gracefully reached up to sense the record, the record dropped and the needle touched down.... ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!!!
I have NEVER heard a ceramic cartridge sound so good, not tinny at all, just very sweet sounding. The only flaw in the record player (like many) is the high range of frequencies. Cymbals and the singer's "T"'s and "S"'s do kinda drop out but that's a ceramic cartridge for you. Also, the Bon Jovi record was probably cut with more precision than the records from 1968 so naturally oldies from the 60s-70 will sound perfect. Sean Cassidy and Elvis sounds right at home on the Maggie.
Yes yes yes, pics and a VIDEO coming soon.
