In door ice
Sudsmaster/rp2813,
The in door ice models have had issues. Sudsmaster, i had the same frig you have. The freezing tube was a royal pain in the ass. IIRC they came out with a different fill tube that i THOUGHT was heated. Once the tube freezes, it can be quite a treat to thaw. I would see this alot during the summer when people would go on vactions. They would shut off the water in the house for fear of a hose or something bursting. They DIDNT turn off the ice maker. The ice maker has no way of knowing there is no water comming in. The last little bit of water in the lines would get into the fill tube and freeze. My fill tube never did freeze, but my water valve went bad when it was about 3yrs old. I also had the issue with the bucket not wating to "lock" back in place. That was easy to fix by grinding the eds off the catch tabs. It helped to "round" the bottom up and made it catch much easier.
rp2813, it sounds like your ice maker is missing the chute/deflector that is suppose to be on the side. It was suppose to help channel the cubes into the bucket. However, when the original water valve on my frig was having its moments, i did get a few stray cubes that would wind up on the shelf or bottom of the freezer. The valve was not always letting enough water in, it would make a few small cubes that were about 1/4 the size they should be. They looked like ice chips. The ice maker would go to harvest the cubes, and the "chips" would "pop" loose and fly out of the ice maker usually landing somewhere other than the bucket.
Good luck dealing with WP. I think they make a good frig, as good as good gets these days but they are major SOB's to deal with!
