iCoffee Single Serve Coffee Machine

Has anyone purchased the iCoffee machine - either the single serve or the full pot? I just heard about this coffee maker. It seems to have rave reviews and everyone prefers it over the Keurig. After checking it out on the website, watching many reviews on youtube, I decided to go ahead and purchase a new inbox model on ebay. I can't wait to get it and try it out. I haven't really been happy with the Keurig 2.0 as I find the coffee not hot enough compared to the previous Keurig's. Also I really was ticked off when they changed the machine to only allow their k-cups to be used. There is a work around but it is still an inconvenience. The icoffee machine uses any type of k-cup and you can choose the coffee size in 1/2 oz. increments from 4 to 12 oz.

Gary-- Let us know how you like the iCoffee! I don't mind the Keurig 2.0, as I find myself using the new K-Mug and K-Carafe pods more frequently than I thought I would. However, it no longer wants to deal with McCafe pods (which, interestingly, still work flawlessly in the old K75 I have at work). All the grounds dump into your cup and run out over the top of the K-cup, leaving a big mess to clean up. The bottom of the K-Cup gets deformed, as well. My new boxes of Dunkin' Donuts Original Blend don't work well, either. I get about 1/3 cup of coffee followed by 8 minutes of drip, drip, drip.

As much as I love the K-Cup format, I wouldn't be against trying a different machine. Looking forward to your review of the iCoffee.

I will definitely let you know once I get the coffee maker. I'm just hoping it doesn't take as long to arrive from TX as did the Cory Vacuum pot I also bought from an Ebay seller in TX...that took almost 1 month even though the seller shipped it in less than 2 days from the time I purchased it.

I bought a "new out of box"

Bunn coffee maker from a Texas seller,  theborderbusiness on ebay.

When it arrived it was obviously used, and defective.  I immediately initiated a return the same day, and printed the call tag.  It was picked up the next day.  Seller received the item three days later, with recipt notice signed.  After ten days they finally issued a refund, which failed to clear the bank via pay pal.  

 

After a month I opened a case with ebay.  They immediately issued a refund to my account.

Back in November I had to replace my previous Nescafe Dolce Gusto pod machine because it stopped working for some reason or another.Luckily they had a sale on their website for a new (and better) machine with 3 boxes (16 pods each) for $79.. a real bargain so I bought one. The new machine is much better, fully automatic and a bigger water tank but the same small countertop footprint basically.   

 

It makes much better coffee than the Keurig imo however it's hard to find the proprietary pods in stores but ordering online is fast and cheaper.. free shipping as well if you buy 4 boxes.  My only beef with it is that in Canada there are only 10 flavors available, in the UK and Europe where this machine apparently is very popular they have upwards of 30 including ice teas' etc. I shouldn't really call it a beef as I only buy the one flavor I guess.    As well in Canada they now only carry the one machine, there used to be 4 different styles.. even more styles are available over in the UK and Europe. https://www.dolce-gusto.ca/

<span style="font-family: verdana, geneva;">I didn't like mine either because it didn't seem to get hot enough until I discovered the heat setting.  I have I think a K450 and the display started doing weird things after about 13 months.  I called Keurig and they honored the 1 year warranty because it was so close to 12 months.  They sent me a brand new brewer.  The new brewer had an updated interface and one of the options was a heat setting.  I maxed it out and find the coffee is better.</span>

 

<span style="font-family: verdana, geneva;">My main beef with this brewer is the Keurig 2.0 workaround for K-Cups without the Keurig brand.  Other than that I'm happy with it.  It is not my daily driver though.  I only use it for that occasional cup later in the day when I don't want to brew a full pot.</span>

I have the 2.0 Keurig 550 model. They gave it to me as a replacement when my B70 model quit working after only a couple of months. The 550 has a 'high altitude' option which when turned on is supposed to heat the coffee more but I haven't really found any difference than when that option is turned off. I still find the coffee not nearly as hot as with my previous B70 brewer. I had a big box of 'non' Keurig k-cups so I have to use the work around of cutting the top off of a valid Keurig k-cup and sticking it on top of the non Keurig one. It really irks me that Keurig did that. This iCoffee brewer looks really neat and so far I have read nothing but positive reviews where everyone prefers it to the Keurig.

I used a bunch of 'points' from coffee purchases and bought another 2.0 550 for half price. It's in my closet waiting for the current 2.0 to fail. I wonder if it has the updated interface with a temperature selection. I might have to pull check on that.

Interesting: The iCoffee website said the problem with clogged filters and overflowing grounds (which happen with the new boxes of McCafe and Dunkin' Donuts) can be due to using softened water. I use softened water, albeit filtered in a Clear 2O pitcher, first. Wonder if I should start using hard water?

Can't figure out why my old box of McCafe pods works well, but the new boxes don't. I haven't had problems with any of the other 30+ types of pods I have in the house.

Keurig 2.0 Temperature

<span style="font-family: verdana, geneva;">COUNTRYGUY - The setting I found is under the Settings menu not the menu you set for each cup.  Mine was set very low when I took it out of the box.  My first cup was not very hot.  I made the change and the cups are much hotter.  </span>

 

<span style="font-family: verdana, geneva;">FRIGILUX - I also use filtered water (Zerowater filter) but have not had the issue with my McCafe pods although mine could be a few months old.  I'll have to buy some new ones and see what happens.</span>

 

<span style="font-family: verdana, geneva;">The updated interface has that new Logo with the K like you see on the new "Keurig Hot" boxes.  The old one didn't have that new Logo but I can't recall what it did have.  I just know when I took it out of the box and plugged it in I immediately noticed the initial screen had changed.</span>

Chachp, my Keurig 2.0 is one of the first models, I got it about 2 months after they were announced. It has the initial interface. There is no option to change the brew temperature other than the high altitude setting.

<span style="font-family: verdana, geneva;">Was the issue that water wasn't coming out or was the issue with the Controls?  I said with the Controls he said OK.  We will replace it and the new machine will have a 1 year warranty (pretty good considering the machine I had was 13 months old).  He didn't ask any other questions.  </span>

 

<span style="font-family: verdana, geneva;">In a couple of days I had a brand new machine.  He told me to cut the cord off the old one and throw it out.  I had to send back the part that holds the KCups.  It was pretty painless.</span>

The icoffee machine arrived today....just 10 days from TX which is about 1/3 of the time it took to get my Cory coffee pot from TX. The icoffee is about the same size as the Keurig 550. The water reservoir is the same size also. It does not have a clock/timer so you can't set it to turn on/off at specific times. It does have a feature to turn off after 2 hours if selected otherwise it heats continually but at reduced power after 2 hours and then shuts off after 26 hours. You can also turn it off manually. It heats the water quickly and it is quieter/faster than the Keurig when brewing. The water reservoir is lighted with a blue light as is the coffee cup area when the coffee is brewing. The overflow container has a magnet to keep it attached to the body of the machine. Also, the coffee is hotter which I like! I used the same k-cup brand/flavour to try it out that I use every morning. The coffee IS better - much smoother. You can select a size from 4 to 12 oz. in 0.5 oz. increments. It also came with a brew basket for using your own coffee as well as a pack of 6 k-cups. The real test will be to see how long it lasts.

My mother bought one of those Keurig Vue machines a couple years ago, it gave up the ghost just outside of the one year warranty but they replaced it anyway. The new one was the Keurig 2.0, she (stupidly) bought one of those carafes for it and the machine never recognized it or something and now it's always clogging up. Recently the screen got moisture in it and stopped working.

They like the convenience of that stupid thing so this iCoffee machine may be a good candidate for them. Otherwise I'll make them get one of those single serve black and decker brewers that comes with the mug.

Meanwhile my commercial Bunn brewer is 7 years old and hasn't skipped a beat. I expect it to work for many, many more years.
