Can anyone help identify a Keymatic. Mum recalls her first washer being a Hoover Keymatic, without sloping front. A green? fascia and square door.
This machine was a gift and lasted only a couple of days as it wasn't plumbed in and took too long! I've looked but can't find any that match her description.

Hi there.

Any rough guesstimate at a year of purchase at all?

I know you metioned that your mums machine wasnt one of the sloping versions but, for the sake of completeness, I include pictures of the 2 slant models below.

First Keymatic was model 3224, introduced in 1961 and on sale through to 1964:

Replacing model 3226....

....was model 3203, introduced in 1966 and the first Hoover washing machine with the familiar square door:

Replacing the 3203....

....was model 3203H, which boasted Hot and Cold fill, rather than cold fill only. This machine was introduced around 1967.
This machine was visually identical to the previous 3203:

Replacing the 3223H....

was the slimline matchbox model 3243H, around 1971. This was the first version with red detailing:

Im thinking.....

Do I remember reading on here there was an Electricity Board exclusive version of the 3243H matching that description???

replacing the first version 3243H....

...was the second version 3243H, which boasted orange detailing and was introduced in mid to late 1972:

How do Seamus.

Me and you are thinking along the same lines!

The electricity board version of model 3243H, came in the form of the A3050. This machine was available from around 1975 through to 1977 and was on sale after the original matchbox series had been discontinued.

The only problem is that I have always been under the impression that the lower part of the A3050's panel was electricity board brown, to tie it in with the other electricity board offerings - model A2018 and D6030.
Anyone know for sure?

Model A3050 below:

& finally...

replacing model A3062 was the final Hoover Keymatic, in the form of model A3112, which was introduced in 1980:

So there you go!
Those are all the Hoover Keymatic's that were ever officially on sale in the UK.

Fingers crossed that your mum's machine will be amongst them - hope we can solve your little mystery.
Let us know which one it was.

Paul

Wow thanks Guys.
The machine was bought from the Electricity board before Nov'67. I'm pretty sure it was the widebody machine.
She was told that going to the Servis was going back in time.

We moved onto a Zanussi in about 76/77 and then the greatest of all the Hoover in 80& matching dryer in 82? -the dryer lasted until 3 yrs ago when the motor finally gave in.
