It is not an appliance part that I have ever seen.
Looks more like a trailer hook.
It definitely has lime scale deposits on it.

Looks like a
tub suspension snubber. Now I'm not certain Whirlpool, but they had them on the belt drives. The three thick rods that carried the base plate, motor, transmission,
basket drive and clutch anchored under the top of the cabinet with round rubber snubbers capped by triangualr domed steel covers. Two in front, one rear.
