Like great ranges But I never figured out why there are 4 8 inch units No small ones.

It does seem like they could put a spacer ring in to accommodate 6 inch units. GE and Hotpoint used them in deep well units to fill the space around the 6 inch element.

Chambers Model D

Approx 1961 to later '60s. We had one of the Nat Gas models, they came either way, and either were a real mother to move! They were basically a remake of the Model C, same oven, but had the improved Plane of Flame surface burners in gas models, with about 30% higher output in BTUs. Nothing made of that quality today!

Chambers Electric Range

A customer of ours custom ordered one like this in Red around 1969-1971 and kept it all these years as their primary range.

 

When they retired and moved to the country and built a new custom house they had it sent to our shop to try any and fix the many things wrong with it. It spent about 3 months in the shop and we got it in good working shape.

 

It was solidly built but the execution to becoming an electric range was poor, wiring was a problem and several components like the clock & switches were 2nd rate. It was also as others pointed out strange that all three top elements were 8". It did have three Robertshaw automatic burner controls, one for the RF element, one for the deep well and one for the Griddle on the top which was cool.

 

Overall it is better than a gas range, but if I wanted something vintage to cook on and live with I would get a GE 40" range from 1950-1984.

For the odd factor, But give me a Westinghouse honey!The 59 I am using now is the best baking cooking range I have ever used,It bakes as good as the norge did and is better built!
