With IFA Berlin next month, I thought I'd start the thread, showcasing new/forthcoming appliances.

I posted all ready lots of things on my dedicated Facebook page to new appliances - please see my new page by clicking the link below, and click like to keep upto date with "New" appliances.

Please help expand the thread by adding other news you've found out about, and if you go to IFA be sure to tell us all about it!

Bosch

ActiveOxygen
or as it seems - Steam!
New technology from Bosch, adds a boost of 30 minute steam (oxygen) before the final rinse, to offer a deep sanitise, and kill 99.99% of bacteria.
There's also a special steam refresh (Active Oxygen Refresh) setting.

We also see - the 2 Cottons cycles added. With the help of Facebook - we've concluded this: Cottons (normal) has 3 wash times - 1hr Speedperfect 2hr20/2hr40 normal, 3hr30 Eco Perfect. then Cottons Eco is the 5hr+ low energy wash (for the energy label). If anyone can confirm that, that would be great.

Siemens will probably get similar technology.

Siemens - Laundry Care (Via App)

Yes its a copy of Candy, Miele etc, but has got its own spin, plus unique Siemens Technology, being able to detect when to start the machine at low energy times of the night.

The New IQ800 with Home Connect (Washing & Drying Via App).
Debuting at the IFA 2015 - the new washing machines, will be the first to launch from the new Bosch owned Siemens Home appliance division under Siemens Name.
OK - they've essentially copied the Candy wash App (which however still only exists in Italy), but tweaked it, and of course added more complex features.
Both Washing Machine and dryer can be connected to the wifi, and controlled via the App. (just like the Siemens oven and hob from last years IFA).
There are 2 massive benefits.
The first - the App, and the machine can work out the best time, to do the laundry, when the energy is at its lowest price. Starting automatically, this essentially means goodbye Delay Timer, hello smart washer!!!
Plus the washer can be programmed directly from the App, and combined with iSensoronic - all you have to do is the load the machine, and close the door. You select a few parameters via the app, the machine does the rest, including the dosing, the washing, and spin drying. The app then lets you know when completed. Select via the App - if you want a short or energy wash, and the type of clothing, and isensoronic takes care of the rest!
The app also lets you know to the nearest ml just how much detergent is left in iDos, and when a refill is needed!
Overall there are even more features :)

Steam? The press releases speak of oxygen and an oxygen generator. Hm... Said generator is, by the way, also activated at the beginning of the cycle. And yes, Siemens will get the same thing.

Not too keen on the new look of the Home Pro models by Bosch. Where did the nice display go? I hope some models will retain the HD display.

Also...

Not sure if I'll go this year. None of the press releases by BSH, AEG, Miele etc. were that impressive. It's mostly (once again) about smart appliances this year. *yawn*

Woohoo!

I like this time of year... Thanks for starting the thread.

I thought Gorenje we releasing something this year after their collaboration with Panasonic?.... I read somewhere that Panasonic were realising their new machines in 2014 (which they did) and then Girenje we ramping up their production ready for 2015. So might see something new from them...

I've seen them online and honestly, I really highly doubt they are made by Gorenje.

Everything on them speeks Panasonic. Cycles, cycle times, EvoNavi, options, drum, recirculation.
Even if they are build by Gorenje, they should be pure Panasonic technology from the bottom to top.

They look like Serie 8 models - I'm sure (as Siemens are) they'll retain the HD screen, hope so indeed! Thats a Serie 8 door too.
Steam - I'm presuming Oxygen will be like Steam, might not be but looks steamy in the press picture :)
Shame your not going, but I agree - nothing speacial seems to be launching, and its still all about smart phone connectivity again.

I'm not sure about Gorenje, they're last update models took forever to launch!!
I like these threads too - especially seeing all the new products, I just had to launch one :)

Those Panasonics are nice indeed, theres all ready a vid on youtube from the uploader - ad1989it (think thats right)! the steam refresh seems powerful, and the motor is the same Panasonic motor previously used.

I'm dubious of that claim that steam will remove 99.99% of bacteria - where did that come from? Can you provide a source for the claim? I'd be interested to read how they tested it.

The reason that I'm so dubious of that is that steam as it's implemented in laundry appliances is a gimmick. It may help remove creasing, and it may, if you're lucky, help kill off a few bugs, but you won't get it in the concentration that you need for proper sterilisation. Think about how they sterilise medical instruments - they need autoclaves to have steam sterilisation under pressure in a sealed space, laundry appliances are not a sealed space.

As far as I know, Active Oxygen is different to steam anyway. I'm slightly confused how they'll be doing this, just as I am with Hotpoint using it on their dishwashers.

Connected appliances don't particularly interest me - it's a gimmick, really at the moment, though I could see a potential use if/when people move more to locally generated electricity using renewables. Even then, though, I see no need to use my phone to tell the washing machine to get on with it - I'll just stick with using the delay timer :)

Gorenje / Panasonic

@ henene4

"I really highly doubt they are made by Gorenje"

Hi Henrik,

they are for sure, belive me. You can take a look at the plate near the drum seal. It is written "Made in Slovenia"

If you take a look inside the drum you will see that the padles are identical to those from Gorenje Senso Care washers.

Gorenje Senso Care washers has also the recirculation but the one on Panasonic branded washers is bigger.

Yes sure a lot on them "speeks Panasonic" otherwise what kind of cooperation would be.

They are still machines that carry the Panasonic brand on, even if they are produced by Gorenje.

Thanks Ingemar!

So won't Gorenje be producing new machines with their own logo on the machine?
I assumed they would be refreshing the Sensocare range since it was launched back in 2011

Adam :D

Hi Adam :)

I'm sure they will.

Yes indeed the Sensocare line was launched back in the 2011. I guess in this time they were working with Panasonic to launch their products.

Now would be the time to see a new line or the refreshed range of the Sensocare machines.

Gorenje Group

Panasonic entered into a working R & D collaboration with Goreneje nearly 2 years ago, so as Ingmar says we now see the fruits of their union coming to fruition,
they do indeed look like the SensoCare range but will have Panasonic specs and software!!

Don't forget Gorenje now own Asko so again we could see (Hopefully) aspects of great brands continuing!!

So, Gorenje builds them with mostly Panasonic parts and designs ;)
I watched the vids and the steaming looks pretty damn impressive.

I guess active oxygen will use ozon, so basicly O₃. As far as I know, you can create O₃ out of the O₂ in the air by just adding some energy. But I really don't know any details about that process.
What I know is that O₃ is highly reactive and thus not only has a certain whitening power if used in certain quantities, but just like chlorine bleach kills bacteria. And as no high temperatures are needed for this process, one can use this technique on pretty much anything.

Even if ozone kills bacteria, I still wouldn't expect that proportion of them to be removed. It seems very unlikely.

However, if people are confusing bacteria with allergens, that may be more likely.
