I read through the press releases. Nothing spectacular from either Bosch, Siemens, Miele etc. Miele will release its American ranges in Europe by the end of 2016.
Watching the Avantgarde video, it looks like BSH reduced the number if holes in the washer drum. They also redesigned the drying in dishwashers (Zeolith II), making it more effective and quieter. And, of course, everything is connected. Like: the dishwasher will tell you when your tabs run out - for those, who reach into the box of tablets blindfolded...

AEG Protex heatpump dryers with inverter motors have the Wool\Silk drying programms since they were introduced. I can't see or imgaine what they now redesigned. Except for the back of the drum missing the plastic nose.
I still adore these dryers. They are in my opinion the best dryers out there. They are super gentle, their A+++ models have a time saver option, they have sensed and timed reversing, depending on which cycle you use, they have pretty accurate sensors and probably the best filter system by now.
Most Protex washer dryers featured Wool drying since their introduction as well. However, the Silk cycle is new. And I'm really interested in what the hell DualSense is. Keep in mind: To this point, Miele is (or was) the only combo that featured conductivity measurements for drying. Maybe AEG now found a way to incorporate it as well?
Their heatpump washer-dryer lineup remained the same, true, but I actually think that they are good the way they are now. The internet mostly says good things about them, and honestly, for 1200€, they are a good deal.

Avantgarde really dosen't impress me. However, I had to giggle when I saw the animated drum movement in the dryer. It's turning counter clockwise xD

Our consumer magazine tested the heat pump washer/dryer. Like most AEG laundry, it was super slow (the tested cycles took each about 3.5 hours to wash and another 3.5 hours to dry) and there were problems during the durability test that are being discussed with AEG at the moment.

3 1/2 hours for an Ecocycle isn't much today, I would say.
And seeing that the BSH washer-dryers in sum take about 3 1/2 to dry 6kg of laundry as well, it's relative. Look at the 12/8 WD combos from Samsung or LG. They take close or mord then 10 hours for a full load wash and dry.
And the statement that energy usage would be high: What the hell? The EU label has its reasons, and if these use less then any WD combo for even more laundry, I wonder how they conclude energy usage is high.
Really, anything consumer report says here in Germany, I take with a grain of salt.
Though, I'd be interested in what problem it is. If its heatpump, heat exchanger, electronics or bearings related, I can understand them. But it could be "just" a drain pump failure as well.

LOgixx - I absolutely love the Avant Garde Models - theres room for improvement mind you - an LCD area where the countdown is would be be better - to allow for text to appear - but obviously not required with how they've set it up, which actually does look very good.
Bosch do seem to be doing away with drum holes - though the back of the drum seems to have holes (again) in this new Series 4 machine!

The 45cm DW are now equally equipped to the standard once: Zeolith, racks, Super 60° cycle.
Their standard once now have 3D airflow for the Zeolith as mentioned.
Serie 4 washers seem to have partially abolished the pre-wash option. However, they claim to be super silent now.
Their fridges are really tuned up, some with cameras, of corse variable low temp zones for meat, fish and a drawer with flexibel humidity for fruit\vegezables. Up to 80cm deep and 70cm wide, the new NoFrost freezers offer up to 55l (I think) more space in the same outside dimensions.

It has a pretty simmilar appearence in terms of UI layout to the avantgarde, is pretty cheap for an iDos machine, and is not even listed on the Siemens webpage yet.

Looks like we could see a Bosch Avantgarde - but who knows!
