Broken belt... will be replacing both belts. Maytag Model A211 Series 4... I believe this machine is approximately 40-45 years old. My dream machine.

I would appreciate a recommendation/link to purchase new belts.

The printing on broken agitator belt TO MAYTAG 2-11125-4E 3*C
The printing on water pump belt T 2-11124-3

The motor tension looks/feels good. Should I lightly spray any WD40 on tracks? Or buy some type of grease to apply lightly on tracks with a Q-tip? No special reason to do this except that I don't know if it's ever been done.

Thank you!

A big thanks again for the correct diagnosis on this machine from you last year. Purchased new water intake valve from the link provided.

Genuine FSP or Maytag belts ONLY. No aftermarket!! Here's a good deal:

NO WD40!! Maytag used their own special silicone grease for the tracks that has yet to be properly replicated. People have used various silicone greases with different results. I've tried all different revisions and nothing works quite like the original stuff. The only way you'll get your hands on the grease is by purchasing a 205000 spring/glide/grease kit....which has also become NLA. There are a few kits on Ebay.

Thank you very much for the link! I wasn't sure where to look. Whirlpool/Maytag is all the same thing now, right? Looks good! I think I will contact this seller because I want to buy the pump belt also. Appreciate the recommendation.

OMG thank you so much for letting me know about the WD40!! I feel like an idiot, but I'm so glad I mentioned it. I just said something about it to my brother and his reaction was the same as yours LOL. I will look for the kit you recommended and if I can find one... I will apply the grease sparingly. Motor still sliding on the tracks, I don't know why I'm trying to find more to worry about.

Thank you.

Thank you for your reply. Everything was working well. I tried to wash a twin size blanket and I guess it was just too heavy.

I'm going to purchase the spring glide grease kit and the 2 belts... and keep my fingers crossed. I have found a youtube video that explains how to use the kit. That pretty much sums up my knowledge of machines. I hope I don't have to call a repair person, if I do... I'll be back asking for any type or recommendation! Thank you!

Changing belts on Maytag dependable care, automatic washers

If the main drive belt needs replacing, it’s important to get a quality belt that is made specifically for the Maytag washer. It has to have a fabric covering to allow certain amount of slip as it tries to go into spin as its pumping out the water.

If you need to change the main drive belt, most important thing is to completely clean any oil, grease, etc. off the main pulley and the motor pulley. This will affect the belt’s ability to slip properly.

It’s also important to make sure the motor carriage moves easily, it was lubricated with a synthetic lubricant when the machine was made, if the track is very dirty, you’ll have to disassemble it all to clean it, but if it just getting sticky just oil it with regular turban oil or spray silicone or about any lubricant will work just fine. It is not critical at all what lubricant is used. Even WD-40, which is not really a lubricant would free up the old grease and make it work fine.

It’s important to adjust the water pump belt when you replace the main drive belt following the instructions that come with the main drive belt the water pump belt itself will usually outlast the washing machine, but for some silly reason, whirlpool is selling them in sets.

Thank you so much for all the great information. I am going to purchase the spring glide grease kit since the machine is about 40 years old. I found a youtube video with instructions for the kit and also for putting the belts back on... but he did not mention cleaning grease off the motor and main pulleys... which I will definitely take care of. Thank you!
