Ive decided I dont want to be here anymore. I dont post as much as I used to. Ive kinda lost interest in washers...at the same time gained a new interest in something else! There's a web site for this particualar interest! Not trying to be rude, but I also feel like I dont fit in here as well...

But I will come here from time to time though.

Thanks everyone for all past help! Hope you find future posting good!

You don't have to go, you know...

It's not like we are jealous or your mother (where were you tonight? Don't you know what the neighbors say about that boy?...)

Go if you must, but drop by occasionally - you're one of us.

Do you mean that you are removing your name from the roster so that it won't be seen in a club with lotsa gay members? Otherwise, you don't have to drop a club to join another, in most cases. Enjoy your new interest, but remember that your stein is still hanging behind the bar and we keep a welcoming light in the window at night for one and all.

I can see where he`s comming from

on many chat sites ,I got the same feeling ,but automatic washer is a nice site compaired wirh many,bear411 was the worse, discusting attitudes people caniblizing their bodys ect

The beauty of this club is that NO ONE exactly *fits in*

Much luck and success with you new interest and in your life in general.

I myself have moved on many times and often don't look back or want to see / recognize the person I was. It is a normal part of maturing.

You will be missed.

Good luck Corey, and have fun with your newest hobby. I can understand that interests do change over time.
Please feel free to visit anytime you like.

I can relate. I used to visit vintage TV collector/repair sites religiously but once I found AW.org I find myself here more of the time. I think part of it is that I can be myself here. On those TV sites the majority of the men seem super straight and I get the impression that most would have issues with certain lifestyles. But it's also because I've found more interesting things to read and chat about on AW's "super" threads. After a while, the technical electronic stuff that's over my head gets a little boring on those TV sites. This one is always good for some interesting reading.
I'd also like to state that for design and functionality, this site can't be beat. It deserves some kind of "webbie" award or something.
I think the one comment about Bear411 covers other sites too, in particular BMB. Seems attitudes have changed in the bear community and now it's not as welcoming to all shapes and sizes. The prima donnas have infiltrated and taken over and haven't left much room for regular guys.

What is BMB?

Are you saying the "regular" (Bree Vandecamp type) gay men are not welcome on the "bear" websites? I haven't been to one but I would think some of those guys would like the non-bear type guys. Maybe that is a wrong assumption on my part.

BMB

Stands for "Big Muscle Bears" .com
There's also just plain "Big Muscle" .com but I guess there were so many pumped up bear types that they warranted their own domain. It's all a bunch of posing and showing off, things they can do on line now as well as in person at events like IBR or Lazy Bear Weekend.

Well at least the people here are friendly unlike and I hate to say it quite a few over on the new Vacuumland site. Ida, Helen, Brett and Veda excepted of course as many others. The animosity over there you can cut with a knife but watch your back cause they'll knife you soon as look at you I'd put money on. I knew ahead of time to expect that and I wasn't disappointed. I was going to quit, after sending my dues in, but I figure what the hell, I'm not walking on eggshells for some old biddy in LA County and her fellow crones who have nothing better to do than purse their withered lips at anyones attempt at humor.

Compwhiz, I wish you much blessings on your new endeavor!

I'm pretty new here, and when you are a new member and just getting used to the established order, sometimes there's a period of acclimation that needs to be made. One concern I would have is that a new member, such as myself, would indeed alienate any established members with anything I might have expressed, and therefore, deprived other established members of the original posters' company....possibly someone THEY really loved.

I really do hope and pray that's not the case here, and I'd like to take a moment to publicly make amends to anyone I may have inspired to flee, or anyone who misses someone who did.

Appliances are good clean fun and I hope that, if your new interest doesn't take as much time up as you thought it would, you'll consider coming back, or at least lurk and keep up on anything that catches your interest!

Blessings, Light, and Peace to you, and everyone, in this beautiful holiday season!!

Petek....yes, the vacuum boards are just too attitude-based for me (not GOOD attitude, as in determination, moxie, spirit, etc., but the bad, backbiting kind).....

Maybe this will change, as the industry itself changes, and everyone finds a spot to feel comfortable with...

Just go through some of the old posts here and you will see some pretty heated discussions of the past. It happens from time to time.

I wish i had something to contribute to this site. I find this place is getting more and more interesting what with all the washer videos and washer tests going on..this is a washer lovers dream.

I will not give up hope though...who knows what's lurking in the damp basements of NJ.

That would probably be YOU sir. LOL

Pat, you DO contribute. Now get a front-loader already....
(ducks and runs)

I never fit in anywhere

But at least I find some kind of acceptance here at aw.org. So I'll be hanging around for a LONG time. Washers are a lifelong hobby.

Pete!

oh no you didnt! but oh so true! one queen in particular i imagine spending her days pulling flowers and making children cry. the birds singing must piss her off. i will call her P&P (peeved and prudish). maybe one day Robert will once again welcome posts about vacuums on this site. the vacuum site has already lost one of its most integral and beloved members due to bs! only makes me appreciate this site much more!

I'm taking a vacation from the VCCC site due to the strange behavior over there. Things started out so well and then it was like somebody put a match to a bunch of gas soaked rags!

And, I'm not afraid to post but certain folks think that if you want to engage in a little camp, then you have no class and that is pretty much a direct quote. So, I'll be camping it up here for the time being.

Some of us original Vacuumland posters, (and web site committee people), started here and this is a FUN place. I'm glad Robert left the Lux G picture---I feel I can mention a vacuum if necessary.

Sorry to see anyone leave but people bounce around from one thing to another.

I had a little time to look at the VCCC!

OYE!!! I think that there are enough vac people here to enjoy ourselves, Charlie. I wouldn't, at this juncture, pay two cents to belong to that "club." I had an opportunity to read some of what has been going on and there are just a few people who need to take some sort of a pill to calm their nerves. Then there are a select few who I am glad that I don't have their nerve in my tooth :-) There were some nice but generic conversations going on but none that I would feel welcome contributing to. Having been part of many, MANY collectors "clubs" over that last 30 years I can tell you that this washer site is very, VERY unique! I have never had the enjoyment nor felt the comeraderie that I have experienced here! Thank you all for making me feel so welcome.

It's too bad that they are not flexible enough to "agree to disagree" at times. I would not feel comfortable posting anything other than the most antiseptic of posts. For my part I'll just stay right here where my friends are! Blessed I am for having made such good friends :-)

Rich

Hmmm. It seems to me that the VCCC is being spoiled by two, maybe three, members. I was quite saddened to learn of a really great member who chose to leave.

Still, the membership is by and large a wonderful group. I really loved almost everyone I met in Chicago last October. Several of the members have emailed me offline to offer support when I was Boyfriend Shopping.

So if all you fun guys want to come on back over here, I think that's great! I look at this board every day, something I can't say about the vacuum site.

VCCC

In the 3 short months that I've been a dues-paying member of the VCCC, it has been a fantastic club that I will continue to be a part of for years to come, as long as it's around! I am also looking forward to attending my first Convention next year (and spending many hours in Greg's basement again...) in Omaha. The Vacuumland site, however, has really taken an unfortunate downturn, in my opinion. Notice how there aren't NEARLY as many new posts by club members (not visitors as they seem to keep coming onto the site) as there were a month ago. While I laugh at most of the drama that has occurred on there, it's a shame that recent events not only caused one member to leave, but another member to be unfairly suspended from posting as well. And some wonder why their questions don't get answered...

Needless to say, until that forum awakens from its seemingly comatose state, I'm going to stay here for a while.

I honestly just don't get it with some of those vacuum fanatics. I've joked about it here and maybe embellished it a bit but it's true. I remember about a year ago when I first started collecting some I came across a Rainbow pretty much mint but it had a whiny sound in the power nozzle. Asked a question or two on a still in existance website and a couple of nice people responded. Turned out the brushroll was reversed or something, very simple fix. Well not long after that I mentioned I was selling it and one person jumped all over me, their opening remark went something like this " A-ha, caught ya, just like I thought another phony trying to get free information so he can sell his stuff and make money when he should be sending it (the money) to me for the advice I gave him." I believe that person was serious and he is still around though not someone I will ever have two words to share with with one exception. And when I jokingly said here about some of them maintaining vast databanks of each and every word ever written by their adversaries on a site (not the VCCC yet anyways LOL) to throw back in their face at a later date... that's somewhat true. I was amazed when I first saw it. Can you imagine me analyzing every sentence Austin ever printed here over one year ago and then being able to catch him up on something he says today, verbatim.. well some of those vacuum folks can and seem to relish doing it.

I only started looking at this site when my washer had some problems and I was wondering how to fix it. Then I got addicted to some of the conversations held on this site.
It's truly wonderful how people tend to help each other out in a quick and knowledgable fashion on this site. Plus I have learned so much on this site about appliances and the history of the different brands and technologies involved. It's always an interesting read.
I am happy this site is here for all to enjoy!
