Hi all! I just discovered this website and it is great! I figured that this would be the best place to discuss vintage/retro items considering I am re-doing my kitchen into a 1950s type kitchen.

This past weekend on Sunday I bought a O'keefe and Merritt stove for about $175! I think it is a 1954 model #405, but I can't be sure until I take it to get some of the porcelain touched up I guess.

Over all it is in great shape and still works. I'll have to post pics once I pick it up this Friday.

I posted a link so everyone can see what my stove kinda looks like.

Congrats on your Great Range find! Warning! Its easy to get carried away with the retro kitchen thing. It`s just too much fun! Welcome to the group!

Really nice stove there

All shined up those 50's stoves are so impressive I think. Much nicer looking than the current "pro" look. You get that in there with some classic mixers, blenders and tosters on your counter and see what friends say when they see it all. When my mom had her 2nd kitchen facelift she finally decided to go new an replace her 50's double wide Moffat for fear that when it came time to sell any new buyers may want standard sizing and that would leave to big an open space, plus the trouble of finding replacements parts, dad when he was alive could always find them but she'd never be able to and I'm too far away. Kitchen just doesn't look the same now when I go home,, not that it's new and modern looking, but that the big beautiful Moffat isn't there. Everyone used to comment on that now nice it was. They really are eye-candy.

Welcome

You'll have lots of wonderful cooking years with that beauty. They were built to last. The old appliance club dot com should have reprinted owners manuals for your model.

Congratulations on the great find. Those old stoves are bulletproof. Treat her right and she'll be your best friend for life.

Thanks Everyone

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

I've always loved the look of furnishings and cars and clothes and... well... just about everything from the 40s and 50s. There was just so much more style back then.

My husband and I were talking about the stove that I just bought and he is completely on the other side of the spectrum. He loves the stainless steel appliances while I like things with color and chrome and lights. It's pretty funny because he is older than I am, but I'm the one who appreciates the classics!

I'll be sure to check out the old appliance club for a manual once I find out for sure what model/year my stove is.

I'll definitely post pics of the stove once it's installed. I should really post pics of my kitchen in progress. I'll try to do that soon also.
