I'm Still Going, But I Had To Stop and Think

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

putting around on a scooter......

It started as me joking at work a week or so ago. I am now considering this to get to work and back. The morning commute would not be bad, there is NO traffic at 5 am. The afternoon Commute at 2:30 would be a little hairier. <p> With my savings to and from work at 100 MPG I would not be as flinching to go on a road trip in the SUV. I was going to go to Dallas this weekend and visit some friends. Decided that I had much I needed to get done at the house. I'll go to Dallas when the weather is cooler and the gas prices have cooled off a bit to ...... hopefully !

I thought we had it bad...

Of course we expect everything to be higher over here. Our regular gasoline jumped from 3.14 to 3.24 just the other day. My jaw hit the ground as I saw the station attendants change the sign. I have an account with Maui Oil Co., so my last fill was at 3.03. Thank heaven for Maui Oil and their discounted fuel!

I have always been surprised that so few people ride bicycles here, what with our nearly perfect weather. Oahu has an excellant mass transit system, but formerly rural Maui needs to catch up with her more populated sister.

Hawai'i just put a Gas-Cap law into effect. This was SUPPOSED to lower our prices, but word on the street is that our prices will go up 27 cents by next week. Lotta good that did!

Possible Good News In Fargo

I stopped at quite a few places, with a few more to go. One of the older places said he has a "warehouse" full of parts and a couple of rubber tub Bendix washers about 15 miles out of Fargo. He said he is leaving for the holiday weekend early today. But he promised he would call me and set up a time I could come back and go through the stuff as he said he would have no problem selling it. YAY. Now back to more hunting.

Here is a picture of Broadway in Downtown Fargo, a beautiful little city (it's the largest in the entire state). I post more later...

Fargo beautiful? They must have done something in the last two years because I thought it was a somewhat shabby looking place which was surprising because Bismarck and Minot were both extremely well kept towns. Maybe I was tainted by what Fargo did to the interior of their nice old train station.
But if you say it's beautiful I"ll stop again on my next drive by.

Hi Pete, I always thought this was a pretty nice town. I love all the elms in the residential neighboorhods...

Oh well, off to Canada

Gas Prices

Gas is running $3.19 here. I have a 40 mile commute to work, and I am also the kids driver. I fill up my 2004 Chevy Malibu twice a week. It is getting painful. Our Dodge Grand Caravan is parked and it is only being taken out when my wife needs something and I am out in the Malibu.

If we had reliable public trans here, I doubt I would own a car.

I meant BROADWAY, not MAIN in my prior post. Middle-age memory glitch. Hope you find a gem or two on your travels, Uni!

And I'm paying $3.20 for gas in rural SW Minnesota. Thank god I have a small car that gets @ 40 mpg on the highway. I'm off to Minneapolis for the long weekend, kids!

Hi Robert,
Fargo sure looks like a lovely place to live. As always thanks for sharing those great pictures.
Take care and happy hunting in Canada.

All the best.
Hugh

I'm currently living with my mother in a rural mountainous region of PA, which means no public transportation and nothing within walking distance. The cheapest gasoline I can find is $3.18 for regular/self service. If you want full service it's $3.35 a gallon. Today I pumped $15 into my car and let it roll downhill as far as possible before actually accelerating.

gasoline

I've definatley changed my driving habits. Trips are cnsolidated as much as possible. I try to time traffic signals so as not to have to stop. If it's obvious I'm going to miss the light, I coast up to it. I accelerate away from the light much more slowly than before, and don't try to keep up with the guy in the next lane.
