My apologies everyone! I just realized that some of the pages in the 1956 Frigidaire Tech-Talk service manual file were assembled out of order. I have just now placed the corrected version on the server. If you have downloaded it this morning, please re-retreive the corrected version by using your same download link as you did earlier.  For those who haven't downloaded it yet, you will get the corrected version automatically.

Thanks everyone!

It's your birthday And I get a present.

Big Ted sold me a mint 56 which I use so often becasue it's so beautiful, the gray tub &agi, the bronze & chrome trim, and the lighted dial, but I've never read a word about it. Now this giant tome--it's amazing. They even document the improvements in the Super & Deluxe Models of the Pulsamatics over the 55 version which was its first incarnation. And they give such precise cycle times like 54 seconds on the small load spin. This was the first year Frigidaire had lights.

This is a great text to have. Thanks a bunch!

MickeyD!

Great washer.  One of my favorite control panels on a Unimatic.

You should do a thread on all your washers!

"you don't see many of them around. "

HI JOE (L)

The doctrine has some enlightenment on this issue. In 1956, Frigidaire made three models a Super, a Deluxe, and an Imperial; only the Imperial was a Unimatic, therefore only one-third of the producton. Also, the Super had only one inlet valve and could be used wihout special plumbling, although it was definitely not portable. For shoppers without the hot & cold water supply who didn't want to install it for whatever reason, this model would have been their first choice.

The unimatic was after all the TOL, that year, and I think we have consensus that most buyers do not select the TOL. So there were not as many of these around; hence, their rarity now.

Of course, I could very well be full of suds, not matter how fragrant.

HI PATRICK,

Thanks, I'll put that on the to-do list.

w/o the lid up blocking the controls?

Dave -

There are some nice glam shots from an old post when I got a similar '56 up and running.

Here you go --

Ben, your 56 is perfect.

When the big turq towel balloons by the light gray porcelain, it's really cool and very pretty. You must have staged the out-of-balance sequence, right? ~ knowing full well that another towel or two would have prevented it
