New Electric Ranges
Hi Jim, just keep it simple
1 Smooth-top ranges are MUCH safer for anyone to use compared to coil top ranges. for at least a dozen reasons, too many to even go into here, you can call me for the full list. Only thing safer is Induction and you should seriously consider this option if you are really concerned about your parents ability to use a conventional range.
2 Digital oven controls on simple SC non convection single ovens are VERY EASY to use
Push Bake hit Start and it is on at 350.
3 Just get a plain non-convection MW [ you will need an electrician to install a 120 volt outlet in the cabinet above the MW ]
4 Don't worry how the existing range is connected to the 240 volt power [ there is no such thing as 220 power in the US ] the delivery people will be able to connect the new range without expensive changes. [ they do it every day ]
5 Range hood makers like Broan sell metal panels to cover the wall between the range and OTR MW or between a range and a hood.
