Memorial Video

Watch this video, its so great, i cried when i first watched it at 2 minutes to midnight last night, such a beautiful version of auld lang syne and the pictures and sound clips are so touching and really makes you think.
May everyone have a prosperous and safe new year

I'm glad Ann Richards is remembered . . .

It's always difficult to tell with politicians, but I really believe she had integrity. She certainly ruffled some feathers when she was Govenor of Texas, especially in the insurance industry, but then that had been one of her campaign promises. I would love to have seen her be the first woman president, 'cuz I really think she had the brains and knowledge to do a good job.

Regardless of her political abilities, it's hard not to love someone who had the wit to say "Poor George Bush, he was born with a silver foot in his mouth"!

I miss Al. If it weren't for him, I'd never have read the "Lysander Spooner Reader"....miss his wacky cackle and his restaurant Granpa's!

In the same spirit, even though a 2005, wanted to give props to Hunter Thompson as well.

Famous Australians who left us

Shane, here are some famous Australians who left us last year as well, I won't include Steve Irwin"Crocodile Hunter",as you have already kindly made mention of him.
These are not necessarily in order,
1.Belinda Emmett-actress in tv series "Home and Away".(cancer age 32 how unfair).
2.Colin Thiele-author of famous kids novel "Storm Boy".
3.Don Chipp-former Liberal Party politician and founder of the Australian Democrats, for some time the 3rd political party in Australia.
4.Len Evans-well known wine and food expert.
5.Peter Brock-very famous racing car driver.
That is my list ,perhaps the other Aussie contingent here may have had other people in their respective states pass on and maybe they could post here.
Cheers and a very happy new year to all on here.
Steve.

I would like to add our own Jaune, also known as Kenmore1978. For those of you who haven't been active members that long, he passed away at the beginning of the year. He was certainly a wealth of knowledge on many different levels!

It actually was (all said in Texan) "Pour Groge, he kant hep itt he wuz boarn witha silver fut in hiz mawth". Personally, I have found almost all soutehrn politicians who have had national exposure a total embarassment to me as a southerner. We come across as rednecks, illiterates, bubbas & bubaettes.

Yes definitely....PartyCycle...his sharp wit is most definitely missed here!! For those who knew him beyond his AW.org handle, his name was Christian Houck.

The other day TCM ran a very nice memorial after "Donovan's Reef" to all in the movie and TV industry who passed away in 2006. I had a tear in my eye. They showed pictures and short movie clips of each actor, writer, director, etc. who passed away in 2006. I'm sure they are replaying it, but I've only caught it once.
