Martin, I remember those old sets. Like anything with tubes, it took a few minutes to "warm up". Remember the dot when you turned it off? Our DuMont color console had 3 color buttons in front. Each button had 3 hues on it. You could easily tune in the perfect color. Unlike now that you have to go through endless menus.

I have an huge RCA console stereo from the late 70's that must be 10-12 feet long. One of the very last they made, sounds good too! It is really a big one considering it is only a stereo and not a tv too.

You're welcome Louie

They were what I found in the area. But I think the two posted by Yogi are more in line with what you're looking for. And free is always good.

JBL Paragon---Knew someone that used to sell them-He wished he had the "bread" to buy one!!The unltimate "stereo "console" speaker system!NOW---if I only had 2mil-there is the Living Voice Palladiums! Will have to wait for the lottery on that one!It is said they come with custom tubed amps for the horn speakers and a 500W solid state amp for the enormous subwoofer! The designer-builder delivors and sets them up for you! What a bargain! From what I have read-8 pairs sold so far-Must be some REALLY dedicated Hi-Fi fans out there!!!The Paragon would be cheaper if you can find one!

CL people bug the heck out of me.....

why post if your not going to respond?

or they want to play phone/text tag back and forth with a thousand questions....no time for that, just hang up...

Ive gotten so that I just chalk it up to the fact that people are a**holes. A good example is two weeks ago I saw a local CL ad for "free stuff". I saw a few items in the pics that I could use. I called the number and had to leave a voicemail. Poster did call me back and I got together with him Sunday before last and took a few things. There were some old wood frame storm windows in the back corner of the garage. He asked if I needed any to which I replied that I actually did need one wood storm to replace a missing one on my porch. All of those were too big though.

He explained that his great-grandfather made them years ago and that he had more than a hundred more in another building just down the road. I told him I didn't remember the size I needed but Id measure and if he were available the next weekend Id come back and look through them. He said no problem. He mentioned that someone had told him there was a place in a nearby town that might be interested in them. I replied that I might know of the place he was referring to and that I had been there in the past. I explained it was an architectural salvage business and Id try to get the info for him. Before I left he said if I knew of anyone else who was looking for anything he had there to give them his number.

So during last week I got the measurement for the storm I needed and also got the info for the salvage place like I said I would. I called the guy twice before the weekend and left a message both times. I got no call back from him. So all I can figure is he must be an a**hole too. I'm not overly bothered by it as I did get there once and did get the few things I originally wanted. If I have to I'll just make the storm window myself.
