In Search Of (ISO) - Wanted - Avacado Maytag A806 & DE808

Hello (first post on AW),

Would anyone have any leads to a nice avocado set of non HoH de808/a806? My partner and I have been wishing for this a long time!

My appreciation for these models began growing up, with my grandparents owning a harvest gold set. Last year I was fortunate enough to obtain replacements from a kind gentleman in Indiana for their house, and it only reignited my quest in search of a set at our own place.

I would greatly appreciate any pointers, and am happy to be part of the community!

David, the dryer in that pair that Kenny posted is an HoH model.   Looks like a nice 806 washer with it, though.

Thanks for the tip. The door size should have given it away but I wasn't sure.

Thanks for the replies! Unfortunately, as Ralph pointed out, that lovely set in Bristol is a Halo of Heat. I've read too many comments on those models being temperamental with over and under loading them... also I prefer the larger door on the Stream of Heat models.

The unit that Launderess shared is beautiful, but appears to be a lower model without the backlit panel.

I may have forgotten to mention that our only washer (~2009 Kenmore 700 series) is out of service, further prompting us to re-asses our washer/dryer situation. The inner basket completely broke off the center shaft underneath the agitator from hidden rust, and I can't justify the repair cost...

Probably the least temperamental dryers I've ever owned. If the electronic control drying function is working correctly, they're insanely accurate from small loads to cramming a large comforter into the drum.

I have experience with both the HOH and SOH, the HOH dries more evenly since the load is always in the air stream. Much quieter too when everything is lubricated and adjusted properly.

Maytag halo of heat dryers

Work fine, but they are much smaller and much slower drying, especially the gas models are insanely slow compared to other vintage dryers.

The stream of heat dryer has a bigger drum, but it has a weird airflow throughout the machine, it’s a very serviceable machine, but it doesn’t come close to the overall performance of a 29 inch built, whirlpool Dryer and there is just too much plastic in the Maytag Stream of heat dryer that eventually starts to break as they get older.

Replacing the rusted broken wash basket in your Kenmore direct drive machine is not a big deal. You probably want to grab a parts machine because the baskets kind of expensive we see this happen occasionally more and more of these machines we replace several every year.
