Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hi Diomede and thanks Paul for adding the pic of the L5LGB.

My neighbour had this machine and I used to see it a lot. It was quite violent and would jump around her kitchen as the stability wasn't very good. In fact the sides of the machine were all bowed as the drum bashed against them. It only spun around 400rpm too.

In 1987 it was replaced (on my recommendation) by a Hotpoint 9530. I remember my neighbours couldn't get over how fast it span 1000rpm.

Here is the instruction book for my nan's first washer. She only had it a few years.

Indesit 2000 Series

Oh how those pics bring back memories. We had the Series 2000 machine when it was launched the 2103 with the three dials on as pictured above by RobM. I remember the excitement when it arrived because it was heavily advertised on TV at the time and far more modern looking than much of the competition at the time. It was very noisy indeed but washed well and did 5 deep rinses half way up the door with one 300rpm spin before the last rinse. I think it lasted about 12 years of heavy use before being replaced. Motor and drain pump failed after 3 years but replaced under warranty , drum replaced due to a coin causing damage on fast spin and the door seal was a design flaw on the first production run and was replaced with a new design because clothes were getting caught in the front on spin. It made some lovely clicking noises from the programmer and i do remember the drum was quite big. One of my favorite machines of all time. I'd love to find one in good condition. I loved playing with the spin speed taking it up and down during spinning lol.

Oldschool indesit, that would be nice to put in the collection! I've just retired a 2001 indesit that was my g.fs. It wasnt too hot on washing, i.e it tumbled slow. and strangely the synthetics tumbled more than cottons.Weirdly did a high level cooldown, a high level 1st rinse, 2 low level rinses and a high level final rinse, then loads of pulse spins followed by a brief 1000rpm. It was one of the new logo designed models. See the pic i've attached!

I've love a series 2000 indesit. a friend from primary school had one and i had some of my clothes washed in it when i stayed over a few nights and got in the usual kid mess from playing games in the park etc.

a few months ago my girlfriend and i looked after her parents house for two weeks, they have a WIL163. Which i was really keen on it washed, rinsed and span beautifully! My hotpoint operates very similar to it!

Here are some pics of that, including the ridiculously high water level on the "time for you" programmes and some pics from my indesit file!
