Hi everyone!

This is my 1976 Indesit L5 on "saturday night wash". Thanks a lot to my friend Nicola for making the video. Enjoy it!!!!

Riccardo, thanks for posting those, that really brings back memories for me. My neighbour had a very similar machine, the only difference was that the controls were more purple.

The spin seems so slow compared to today's machines, someone told me they span at 420rpm??

Here is a pic of my Nan's Indesit's instructions.

Grazie.

Hi Riccardo, nice pictures and nice video. I's been a while since I saw this washer for the last time. When I was a kid I remember that this washers were quite popular, but ours were made in Yugoslavia by OBODIN, under licence of the italian INDESIT. Thanks.

The L5 is gorgeous! I love it so much.

I knew a dishwasher like that with 2 doors. And I've a stipomatic from Candy with 2 doors too. Thanks so much for these pictures.

Indesit L5

Hello Riccardo, lovely machine, takes me back to seeing them over here in the 70`s, that tumble action 20secs tumble , 20 secs rest...and that straight into the drain spin, the pump was directly attached to the one motor if I remember....

Rob, the model we had here was more like 380rpm, you definately needed to have kept your creda debonair to use with this on a dreek british winter washday...LOL

Thanks for the vids, Mike

I remember this Indesit machine cost £75 back in 1976,when i bought my Hoover Keymatic deluxe for £169.00!!

Hi Riccardo.

A great machine collection you have there, with some superb Indesit classics.

it is wonderful to finally see an L5 working, as I never saw either of the machines relatives owned operating.
Love that drain spin and am impressed at the stability of it.

Seems like Indesit did a number of variants of the L6. I attach images of the UK Indesit L6SGB.
The machine on the right is a formal portrait shot, taken from a magazine report - cheers Mike.
The machine on the left is the very L6SGB that my dad repaired back in 1983ish.

thanks for posting the pictures and vids Riccardo.
great to see L5's and L6's again - anyone got an L7?

cheers

E bravo Riccardo!

Very good to see you sharing here this precious documents.
I really love that L5 and wonder about the slow spin speed...I thought it were faster...

GOOD!

Riccardo, I got a question. Can you explain how the machine did not drain during the wash cycle since the pump is connected to the motor. For an american top loader is this easier, because during the spin (drain) cycle the motor run on the opposite direction, but the front loaders tumble in both directions. Really fascinating!
Thanks, Ingemar

My mother had an Indesit machine very similar to the L7, it too started spinning to dain.
It was quite easy, when the motor started rotating at full speed, the pump (directly connected to the shaft spun faster too and started draining water from the tub. This went on for about 30 seconds IIRC (I was like 8 when we got rid of the machine because of thermostat problems) and then the tub reached full speed. At times because of all the weight the machine did little jumps but it didn't happend often at all.

Anyway, fantastic machine! It's always so good to see some old Italian technology still running today :)

Why the machine don't drain during the cycle, even if th

This is a very simple answer! The motor, during low speed, have'nt the power to "push out" the water, 'cause the drain hose is on the top (near the water valve) not on the bottom like other, behind the machine. So, this is possible only on spin cycle!
Ciao, and thanks to everyone to be so interested at my INDESIT L5!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for posting the video's of the L5, this is my all time favourite machine. Brings back many happy memories of laundry day at my Aunts. I wish I had an L5.
