INDESIT Restoration

Hi all!

It seems that nothing else than pics is the language of a forum
So here you are some of the last Indesit I found... a very hard job to do!

the control panel

A timer control knob with one cicle only and the temperature selector knob. Then tre pushbuttons which function of I'm not sure yet, anyway:

- the switcher on-off
- the Bio, used to soak during the wash (ore prewash!?)
- the no-iron, honestly don't know

All with lamp!

Top off

It came out without the top so I should invent something to put on there

The outer tub you see is bending due to a skid suspension off
I soon put it in right place

triple valve!

YEAH! The hot-cold fill is possible thanks to the electric (and not mechanical) water valve management.

You would just need to swap the main wash solenoid onto a separate valve for hot filling and here you are a machine cold-fill only become a hot-cold fill machine!!!

The magic spin!

This serie of machine is knonw as Self Cleaning draining pump.

I think Indesit was the only one producer to apply this system on their machine very diffused in Seventies.

The motor have two shaft, the rear one move the drum by a belt and the drum pulley, on front it works like a dw, so the machine had to spin to drain.

Believe my dear american friends that it was not so easy like youre vertical axis spin drain machine.

Thanks that the water used was very low (for the standard of the machine of the same era), anyway the video show and demostrate how this machine over all was really stable

Hi diomede...

my - it is a tad battered and worn, but i am sure that you will work your magic on it.

We had those machines in the UK - Indesit 092 AOG.

The left hand image is from a 'Kays' catalogue from 1982, whilst the right hand image is from an interior design book.

Keep posting updates, as really interested to see the end result.

Carlo... piuttosto ti do la Indesit ma la Ignis non si muove da dov'è nel modo più assoluto!!

"trips" while spinning - as you can see the video show you all that the those machines were indee stable and that the reson of the trip should have looked for in a bad installation, just as someone have make it coming out in the video of the Moon under the countertop...

I have also had one like this. I have owned many indesit machine's that employ the same spindrain system such as the one you are restoring. they are very stable and known to last for years!

I would say that the (no iron) setting would be permanet press eh? This machine looks identical to the Equator machine.

Here you are!

The control panel has been removed. Unfortunately, it'll be necessary to cut it, as the machine went out without top and the panel rise up of the top edge for few centimeters (1/2 inch I imagine)... I hope to be able to do a good job either

Antd the tube goes out!!

The hardest act of a restoration I think, at least speaking of FL, it's to take the outerbut awasy. Not always you'll be able to pull up the tub, cause to the ballastes! So if you cannot disassemble them before (specially for the front one, and in this case for the rear one either), the only way I found to make the less effort is to top-down the machine and pull the cabinet in order to let the heavier tub stay ground.

Voilà!

Weight on front side down, weight rear side and weight on top... How could this machine be famous for jumping while spindraining I'm really wondering of!

To make the outertub taking away easier you can take off the rear top bar (where there were the inlet valves and the supply cord).

Spare parts

I knew the rubber porthole seal to be changed and relative ring but now I aware the two draining pie to be changed either!!
And OMG when I made the drum rotates! The bearings system to be completely replaced, for drum and for the motor too!

What an hard job...
