Sorted by price low to high at Home Depot, an interesting view emerges.

The cheapest Frigidaire and the LG just below it seem to share the control panel bezel, and the "burner" controls look nearly the same: on-off touchpads indicating the burner's position, +/- pads for setting the power with a single digit LED display.

The storage drawer appears similar to the Frigidaire at the right end of the top row.  Even the oven capacities are nearly identical: 6.3 cubic feet vs. 6.2.

The oven racks and rack guides have a similar shape and appearance.

Is it possible LG is sourcing this model from Electrolux?

Maybe I looked at the wrong LG, it looks very similar but the oven capacity is bigger, look at the height of the drawers underneath.. The LG has a blue oven, the one I looked at and the back of the oven wall looked different.

Noticed there were no back control stoves either. I did find the Frigidaire with back panel controls on one Cdn website still for sale.. None for GE anywhere .

Perhaps the dam is about to burst

As of this morning:

Forno is a Canadian company selling induction stoves made in China.  They're flagged "Special Buy" so the price drop might be temporary.

The company with the most potential to shake things up is Haier who licenses the GE trademark from General Electric.  They could blow the market wide open with Hotpoint-branded induction stoves with traditional styling and colors priced to sell for a street price of under $2,000.00.

Forno

Never heard of them. Right now those two are $2999 Cdn at HD here and not on sale. Reg US price is $2599. So if they matched the US sale price they'd be $2300 Cdn.. Can't see many people buying an unknown brand and spending that much. THey might if the price was $1799 cdn. The average person imo doesn't want to spend much more than $1000 cdn for a stove and if they're renovating their kitchen and wanting to go upscale they're going to go with a known brand, even one with a little bit of cachet. I doubt it's any different in the US.
