Inside the 94 Hottie

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Oh my goodness

It's amazing how the Hotpoints still function so well with the amount of c*** the sumps can hold for years. Nick, did you ever see the pic of the sump on my old Hotpoint? It was solid too.

I have really enjoyed this thread and I hope that one day you find the 95 series you so want.

I sorted my tacho with the lid off, ran a cycle with laundry on a regular cottons wash. Observe wash speed, if too fast(laundry sticks to edges of drum lol), switch socket off, `click' gold barrel back one, repeat until happy with speed. Then wait for it to distribute, check that on distribute most laundry is pinned to sides forgiving the odd shirt or whatever which is flapping around at the back of the drum. If towels are not glued to the edges, distribute is too slow and spins could be violent.

Hope you're keeping well Nick

Nick

Nick i've just inherited one of these that had died and all it needed was some brushes in it. I'd sold the lady a new Candy Smart which she's chuffed with and I gladly took her Hottie away. Anyway it's been running through my washing nicely and is now ready to be moved on. I've never repaired one of these before they are very robust inside. Very impressive. It's no wonder the last so long.

Same with us, Nick (nickuk) – we felt positively filthy when our Microtronic’s sump was cleaned! LOL Half of an Essex seaside resort was in there, and I swear we could hear the sea!!! ;-) I’ll go and hang my head in shame now. ;-)

’Twas I that showed Nick the photos of an Indesit-made Hotpoint! Yes – they are nice machines to use and are incredibly quiet, but Hotpoints they ain’t.

*Wishes he had a real Hotpoint, even though he loves his Miele*

Take care, all. :-) Hope you are doing OK, Nick (nickuk). :-)

Regards,

Carl

Cheers guys,

Nick I did see the pic of the filter in your Hottie and yes it is amazing what they can hold undetected, however since ive emptied it, the drain does seem to be quicker and the distribute/drain of wash water seems to be really effective now, even with high foaming detergents like liquigel.

The drain of the maintenance wash water was incredible to see, as usual the straight into distribute full of water usually froths up all detergents badly and the Surf was no exception, however as the level got lower and lower the suds just dissapeared with the water. I was amazed that at the end of it the drum had no trace of suds at all.

Carl, I would say you reminded me of what the insides of an Indeshit look like..... remember I used to have a Hotpoint WF000 that I took to pieces almost weekly to sort out sump problems.... glad to be shut of that heap of junk.

and finally Steve, I hope this baby really does do another 12 years despite the drum problems it has, It makes no odds to the way it washes I guess, no sign of bearing failure yet (touch wood) and as long as it keeps going I will gladly use it with pleasure until I get my hands on a 95 series or indeed a Liberator. They really are the best.

take care all

Nick

p.s. Im doing fine y'all despite needing 10 pairs of hands to keep all you christmas celebrating folk with such goodies at work. As you scoff your selection boxes and Quaff your J20s spare a thought for my broken back and somewhat shorter legs from all the extra scooting about I have been doing this December. Merry Christmas LOL :-)

Nick,

I keep forgetting about your WF000! :-) What an unfortunate choice of model number by Hotpoint! I’m guessing someone had a sense of humour when they chose that! LOL However, I think they missed out a letter – “F” – making it “WTF000”. ;-) hehe

Finally, are you really Saint Nick, Nick? ;-) Are you trying to pass yourself off as Santa Claus?! You’re a bit young to be him, and I’m not sure he works for Tesco, however much Sir Terry Leahy pays him, although it would be a good coup! ;-)

nickuk Nick, I remember seeing the filter in your Hottie! :-) Ours looked basically the same as both of yours, complete with resident gunk. hehe ;-)

Finally, here’s a Christmas tribute to decent Hotpoints everywhere (LOL):

Have yourself a merry little Hottie,
Let your dose be light
From now on,
our brushes will be out of sight

Ignore the horrible little Indesits,
Make old Merloni pay,
From now on,
our troubles will be miles away.

Here we are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more.

Through the years
We all will be together,
If the Fates allow
Hang a Hottie brochure upon the highest bough.
And have yourself A merry little Hottie now.

And finally – aquarius1984 Nick’s Wash Mitt Frog Song (aka Nick’s Froggy Mitty Ditty – LOL)… Brace yourselves (LOL):

Sump, sump sump… Pump, pump pump…

Spin or loose, soak or skim
One thing is certain, I’ll never wash him
Side by side, wash and dry
We all stand together

Play the timer, fight the fight
But what's the point on a beautiful night
Armature in arm, Persil in hand
We all stand together

95 95 95 95 95 95 95 95
Distribution mode works all right
95 95 95 95 95 95 95 95 95 95 95
Walk in the Miele light
You'll get it right

95 95 95 95 95 95 95 95
Spinning doesn’t take all night
95 95 95 95 95 95 95 95 95 95 95
Walk in the Miele light
You'll get it right

Super rinse, spin or swim
One thing is certain, we’ll never give in
Side by side, rinse and spin
We all stand together

WE ALL STAND TOGETHER

Why Why Why.................

Carl im going to rescue you from this by confessing to all and explaining the frog thing.

Carl has a fetish for the Frog Song - which I do really wish I hadnt reminded him existed ;-) it seems to have revived such an odd little pleasure of his.

and since I started messing around one day in front of my webcam Kermits cousin seems to be talk of the ranks,
but anyway Ill post a picture of MY actual washing machine LOL and YES IT IS CLEAN!!

Bath?shower times should be fun I think hehehe.

LOL @ Nick and Jon. :-) Thanks guys – you’ve really cheered me up. :-) :-)

“Legend”, you say, Jon? ;-) Like Dame Shirley Bassey? ;-) You shouldn’t have said that! LOL Here goes…

Think of the latest M&S advert with Dame Shirley Bassey singing Pink’s “Get the Party Started”. This could be either the Hottie, Nick’s Froggy Wash Mitt or Nick himself singing this (LOL):

On a Saturday night
Everybody’s waitin’
For me to arrive

Dosin’ out the Persil
To all of my friends
We’ll be lookin’ flashy
With my Hottie WM

I got lotsa style
Got my turquoise-coloured rim
I can soak for hours
If you know what I mean

I'm washin’ up
So you better you better get this cycle started
I'm rinsin’ up
So you better you better get this cycle started

GET THIS CYCLE START-ED
