Inside the Frigidaire II

Well, I'm in a new apartment again, and that means I've been able to leave that piece of shit Haier dishwasher behind.
What am I rewarded with in the new place?
A virtually brand new Frigidaire dishwasher.
This one's quite nice actually, because it's NOT a tower wash.
It is a Frigidaire 1050 with that 4 level PrecisionWash system.

I have to say, these past few weeks I've enjoyed it very much. It alternates the spray from lower arm to upper level. This is good because the wimpy motor is not powerful enough to pump water through the arm and tower together. But when the water is split between two wash arms? There's plenty of pressure to go around.
What makes me happy is it actually cleans! And I don't have to prerinse anything anymore because the filtration system works well, and the middle tower cleans all of the upper rack. No more towers!
The only thing it doesn't do, and I don't think ANY Frigidaire can do this, and that is scrub pots and pans. The water's still not strong enough. But it cleans crusty dishes just fine.

What I did was wrap the front of the machine in Saran(tm) wrap and ran a 'rinse only.'

Hi John,
Nice video. I don't like towers in a disheasher either. I have a GE tall tub and I like it a lot. I do like the Frigidairs also. Does this machine have a dial and buttons?

it's got something very unique to me.
It has a dial, but the dial is more like a "dial selector" where you point it to the cycle you want. then there's 3 buttons:
heat dry, hi temp wash, start/cancel.

cycles: Pots&Pans, Normal, Light, Upper Rack, rinse Only

Thanks for the great video footage. Most people have never seen a Frigidaire at work.

I had two different TOL Frigidiare dishwashers and both did a great job on dishes and cutlery. The 'Upper Rack Only' and 'Lower Rack Only' cycles got a lot of use in my house. They struggle with the crustiest pots/pans, as you pointed out, but otherwise I liked them.

I think the Frigidaires have a neat wash system with the alternating wash arms.

I remember years ago when we had the Waste King. The door latch used to stick and sometimes when you'd open the door, the machine wouldn't stop. One day, I opened the door to add a dish without thinking, and the machine kept washing. A torrent of water came flying out of that machine - it shot about 5 feet out, landing right into the back of the TV my mom kept on a stand in the kitchen. That was the end of the TV. What a huge difference between then and now. Of course, I think that machine used almost 3 gallons per fill to power those counter-rotating stainless steel spray arms. But it did do a nice job cleaning the kitchen floor. Those were the days......

That dw should date between 2001-2006. Frig changed the top arm to fill out of a back hose instead of from the top nozzle. Gives a little more room in top rack. My latest frig is 2007 and it is a little quieter than the 2001 model.

My AEG has the alternating between spray arms system too. It works a bit different though, mine changes more gradually from top to bottom and vice versa.

Great video, the plastic wrap worked great. I know people who have these machines and seem pleased with them overall. Alternating wash levels have been around for years in Europe and it does save water while increasing the pressure to each rack at the same time.

We machine lovers would go crazy trying to figure out two entirely different " wash sounds" if we didn't know the story. I would be going absolutely nuts.

John, Thanks. Did you use very wide Sarah Ann wrap and if not, how did you join the sections together? It's good to hear that these can wash well in the more expensive models.

Andrew, was the TV on? Did tubes explode? Were there sparks or a flash of fire? Was there smoke? Sounds like an experience with a lot of potential for excitement.
