When Whirlpool bought KitchenAid, the dishwasher part had to be sold under separate cover, so to speak, because Hobart which was KitchenAid's dishwasher maker.
Emerson Electric bought Hobart. Their kitchen appliance brand name was In-Sink-Erator. So as the machines came off the assembly line, one was KitchenAid and the next one would be labeled In-Sink-Erator.
I have an In-Sink-Erator that is 20 years old and has worked flawlessly for that entire time. Even the front panels can easily be changed to 4 different colors -- white, black, almond -- and I forget the 4th one.
At least that's the way it was all explained to me by my dealer.
