Insinkerator Evolution Pro Series Garbage Disposal

Was researching garbage disposal and saw Insinkerator has a pro-line of garbage disposals. I got a Pro 750 it's similar to the Evolution Compact and adds auto reverse. Also has stainless grinders but Evo compact may have that too.

Pro models look like a slight step up from the big box store models. Similar components with a few added features and longer warranties. Pro 750 is similar to Evolution Compact, Pro 1000XL looks like a 1 hp beast, 1000LP is powerful low profile option, Pro 880LT is similar to Pro 750 but stronger 7/8 hp motor.

Anyone familiar with these pro models? They're targeted to professionals but can be picked up at plumbing supply stores. Here Ferguson and a few others stock them.

What "PRO" are these machines aiming for?

I have to laugh at the marketing of any appliance called "Pro or Professional grade."
Obviously these are better built units than their "Badger" line of disposers and have more features. When I see people in HD or Lowes buying the cheapest ISE disposer, I can't help but remind them that it probably won't even last the life of the warranty at that price level. Buy a more upscale model with stainless components and you will be far happier.

But the reality is this.. go to ISE's commercial website and see what a real "PRO" model looks like, how it is built and what they cost. Not to mention that they probably will not fit under your sink, and you will see what I mean about what is Professional or not.

I guess the pro's in the domestic market have got to be the plumbers who install them or the chef who does some heavy duty cooking and catering at home and needs a good disposer that can stand up under heavy use.

ISE commercial

Yes, a commercial unit like ISE's LC-50 or stainless SS-100 with commercial motors will outperform the "pro" disposers. Hobart's 120-volt options like the FD4/50 and FD4/75 are impressive too. These weigh a lot more and have much beefier components.

Stepping up from base home models to ones with stainless steel grind components, auto-reverse, and quieter operation will give you a better performing and longer-lasting disposer.

The 'Pro' line from ISE means the line offered by professional plumbers. It's sort of the independent dealer line.

Had to replace mine last year and went to Home Depot intending to buy an Evolution series but found a Badger 900 on closeout sale for $89.   3/4 HP, SS grind components and insulation jacket.   It's a fine unit for our light-duty needs, no complaints.

"commercial" motor disposer-these would have REAL CONTINUOUS duty air cooled motors.The motor is totally enclosed with a fan and shroud on the bottom of the motor.And commercial disposers are equipped with replaceable shred elements.They are like 1Hp-15Hp and the models over 1 Hp usually run from 3ph power.Not for home use.The 1 hp ones if 120V-OK.They can cost like $1000.

The smaller ones, usually around 1 HP, are usually single phase, but are 240V. One thing I love about the old Waste Kings, they were made to be repaired. Sadly you can’t get parts anymore though!
