Interesting dishwasher detergent comparison

I have a water filter in my house and the clear plastic housing gets quite crudded up. I have just soaked it for a day with Cascade Complete powder and just put it in the next load and comes out like brand new. This week I just had liquid Cascade Complete so I used that. After soaking twice and running it thru 2 cycles it was not that noticable that I had tried to clean it. I went downstairs and got a box of Cascade Complete powder. Soaked it for a few hours put it in the dishwasher with the power and it came out like brand new. Same brand different cleaning capablilities. No more liquids for me for dishwasher and I have gone back to power Tide/w bleach. Any comments would be welcome with your experiences.

i did notice sort of the same thing, i bought my new maytag dishwasher in 2007, mine has the hard food disposer built in, i used cascade complete liquid or gel, and there was some food residue, i switched to powder and have had no problems, although, the cascade complete liquid did a very good job compared to some others. i did try electrosol tablets just recently and they do a very POOR job!!! i was amazed at how much food residue is left, i used to make fun of the bf because he always told me he thought the powder cleaned better, now i am the one that agrees with him! lol

I agree about the powder working better, that is what I use at grandma's in her GE with Rinse Glo, but at home we use liquid because the powder dosent completely dissolve in our Kenmore

I've always been a powder user, and will not use liquid laundry, or gel dishwasher detergent.

I've used the regular Cascade in the past, and had OK results.

Used Norwex and that didn't do much good, food left in glasses, and pans had to be rewashed.

Is there a phosphate content listed on the bottles & boxes?

Gansky1, I just checked the contents on both containers. The liquid has 4.5% phosphorus and the powder has 5.5% phosphorus. I guess 1% more makes quite a difference.

For quite awhile, I'd been using liquid laundry detergent. On a different thread, someone said the same brand of detergent worked better in powder form than liquid. Given that 95% of the folks here have worked on or own 95% of the machines ever built, and have used 95% of the detergents ever made, I took the statement seriously.

I switched.

He was right.

I would have thought that...oh, never mind what I thought, the results were cleaner, softer laundry...

In the dishwasher, I've always used Cascade power. My mother swore by it.

I ran out of powdered dishwasher detergent and didn't want to go Dollar General just for a box of detergent. I a bought a bottle of Cascade liquid at the gas station across the road from me.

I won't use a liquid again, for some reason the detergent door wouldn't open when I was using the liquid, there were several times when I would have to run the load a second time.

I never had a problem with the detergent door opening when I use powdered detergent. I haven't used powered laundry detergent since I bought the Frigidaire front loader. But I think that will change. I'm going to try the Sears powder detergent that several AW members rave about. I heard that it is good to switch detergent brands every now then.

Cascade powder here. It's always done a great job for me.
