I sometimes watch content from the YouTube channel Japanology. I ran across this video that highlights their appliances the other day. Interesting that they even have a vintage collector spotlighted at about the 22 min mark.
Thanks, Phil, for the Japanology video! Excellent. I especially enjoyed the refrigerator with the vacuum-seal compartment and the front-load washer/dryer that "ironed" using high-speed air flow during the dry cycle. The sculpted, bulging fronts of the front-loaders was cool, too.
The section about the man collecting mid-century/post-war appliances reminded me of so many here at AW. I'd love to eat at his restaurant that's jam-packed with old appliances. Looked like you could barely navigate in his house it was so full of old appliances.
And while the highly price-competitive, 9-story megastores might be exciting to peruse, I'm glad they took the time to talk about small, mom-and-pop stores that are close to apartment complexes. What excellent service they provided when customers need help or repairs.
