Re: picket debris. In the past "I thought" I was doing a good with checking pockets, but occasionally found a single coin (usually a dime or penny) in the washer or would hear it tumbling in the dryer. While I've never washer my cell phone or entire wallet, my worse offense was discovering tubes of lip balm (chapstick / blistex), either in the washer as I unloaded it, or worse, in the dryer once everything was dry.
After going through 8 or 10 of them over the course of a year or so, I learned and trained myself to thoroughly check EVERY pocket before it goes into the washing machine.
