Interesting Re: Pocket Debris

Ran a load of 6 cargo-type shorts, 1 t-shirt, 6 underwear, 2 hand towels, and 5 pot holders in my Neptune TL.  Overlooked some coins in a front pocket (no closure flap).  They did not fall out of the pocket during the cycle.  Heard them rattling when carrying the load to the dryer.

You should be ashamed of yourself for not checking every pocket my mother would say. Well, I am ashamed to say, I still find coins in my old Maytag after washing pants once in a while. Mother and grandmother would have been appalled and much more through and taken even all the pocket lint out first. I cant be bothered with being that picky.

Dangers in washing Cargo shorts

Several years ago, and in my defence cell phones tended to be smaller, and after checking FOUR pockets,I washed Cargo shorts as well as my phone. Unfortunately those two lower side pockets, making a total of SIX, which so conveniently held a cell phone and safely held it throughout the wash were the culprit. Unlike DADoES's coins the phone was not useful after! By the way DADoES, might we see a full control panel shot of your Neptune Top-Loader? And an interior? The machine Consumer Reports said cleaned better than any other tested although maybe a bit vigorously, your thoughts on that? Thanks

Neptune TL water usage

 
1) Normal fill level, drained without clothes.  Approx 3-2/3 gallons.

2, 3, 4) Normal fill level for wash, LARGE load of bath towels, hand towels, wash cloths, dish towels, dish cloths, and a LOT of ankle socks.  Spun twice.  8 gallons, does not include rinses.

Have not yet checked the higher fill level.

Glenn, thanks so much for the photos and info about your Neptune TL washer, very interesting! (BYW, how is your Calypso doing?)

Re: picket debris. In the past "I thought" I was doing a good with checking pockets, but occasionally found a single coin (usually a dime or penny) in the washer or would hear it tumbling in the dryer. While I've never washer my cell phone or entire wallet, my worse offense was discovering tubes of lip balm (chapstick / blistex), either in the washer as I unloaded it, or worse, in the dryer once everything was dry.

After going through 8 or 10 of them over the course of a year or so, I learned and trained myself to thoroughly check EVERY pocket before it goes into the washing machine.
