I Think I Recall...

...This as one of the appliances in the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Christmas special commercials. For those who remember, the GE commercials seen when the show was new used the same Rankin/Bass stop-motion animation characters as the show itself. There were also print ads with the Rudolph characters. The show was seen for the first time in '64, and I have a December, 1965 Reader's Digest that has GE ads with the Rudolph characters in it, so GE sponsored the special for at least two years.

Well, as long as I'm showing...

I also found these fun things: First, a Kenmore hot plate with box. (I also saw a Lady Kenmore Blender that I passed on. Was that a mistake? I just figured I needed another blender like another hole in the head)

That TriStar -

Looks like it's a DXL model or maybe an EX-20, one of the last Compact-based machines before the company was sold (to the same people who own Aerus, successors to the old American Electrolux company, which is no relation to the Electrolux company today). The new owners have since redesigned the machine. Many people - myself included - feel that the new machine is not the equal of the old (I have a CXL, the model just before yours). You might be interested to know that a new TriStar goes for about $2600 list price. One like yours or mine still goes for several hundred dollars (like $300-400) if it's in good shape. Mine has all accessories, its original box, and its owner's manual.

P.S., Dan:

I forgot to mention - your TriStar has a genuine factory hose on it; I can tell by the end I see in the photo. If it's in good shape, take good care of it - the genuine hose is expensive, like $160 list price (though you can find somewhat better deals online). There are cheaper aftermarket hoses on eBay, but the genuine hose works better because it has the moulded-in plug socket for the power nozzle. The aftermarket hoses don't; they have a weird pigtail arrangement that gets in your way when you're trying to dust furniture.

Calling Petek!

Pete has at least one of those Toast 'n Browns. They were made for toasting large and/or odd shaped items. Kind of a poor man's Toast-R-Oven.

Keep the insides polished and you'll be good to go.

Poor man's toaster oven?

That sounds like something right up my aisle ;-)

Actually, it's great for bagels, and making butered toast: Just pre-butter with butter from the fridge, and you'll be all set. I really like it!

Yup I have that GE Automatic toaster. Mine doesn't say Toast'n Brown though, just Automatic Toaster. I waited for years for one to show up and by luck two showed up last year. I ebayed one thinking I'd do not too bad on it but only got $14 iirc. I was sorta pissed off LOL I'm keeping the other one. Our neighbors had one growing up and I always thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread.
They were on sale thru the 60's and even into the early to mid 70's.

I've never seen a Toastmaster version of the GE, didn't know they existed...good find...
How how's this for weird, you posted this not that long ago and last week I was in Value Village and guess what's on the shelf.. another GE one.. I didn't notice till I got this one home that it's missing the GE Logo on the front top. It's been sitting in my trunk all this time and your posting just reminded me.. I haven't even plugged it in to see if it works figured if it doesn't I can use it for parts.
