Found this behind the local leccy shop yesterday. Brought it back today. Lovely machine. No electrical problems at all, just one of the suspension rods fractured and snapped which is a rare thing to happen but I confidently repaired it with a spare rod from a donor tub. It also received an original brown dial I had spare, brushes and a brown plastic strip at the bottom as it was in bad shape. Not finished cleaning yet but I tested it out and it works great, this will be a permenant fixture. Any clues as to when it was made because there is no sticker in the door. I assume late 80's. All I know is that its a Currys exclusive and a mongrel!

Blue/green writing on the fascia dates it to 1991 at the earliest in my book. Coupled with what I can see of the drum it looks like it belongs to the 95*6 period.

And what a mongrel it was! Much improved by the correct colour dial.

Manufacter Date

As usual Another great find and restoration. Does this machine have a thick drum rim - if so, it will be from the mid 80s.

I recon early 90s

I recon 1990-1991 as the machine doesn't have the old ITCL codes but temperatures, which were new in the 90s, going away from the 1/95, 2/60 3/6 4/50 5/40 to 95* 60* etc

Nice machine James.

Is this a slightly earlier model with the 85* wash instead of 95*?

Nice rocker switches, but also over to Craig for the lovely Hotpoint drum!

Thank's Everyone!

I think it would be safe to say that this machine would have been made during 1991 as exclusive models never had very long production runs since they used up old bits of trim and that. The module in this is in fact one similar to a 18-series to early 95-series module! The dispenser handle and fascia is of early 95-series origin. Cant wait to give it a proper scrub on Friday and a boil wash!

wow!

well done on the find! 3 great machines found now! :) looks alot better without the white dial, and im suprised its in such great condition with the lid off.
thanks for the updates,

Great catch James.

I think yours might be the first exclusive preserved!
Dont know much about the 9770, as havent encountered a service manual for one yet, but the dates quoted are probably about right.
The follow on 97-series machines (9773,74,75,76 & 77) were introduced in September 1993.

Happy tinkering.

I'm back!

Just thought I'd say the 9770 was a bit sickly a few weeks ago. The off/on push/pull switch in the timer burned out or something. Anyway, a kind local repairman gave me a replacement timer for fre along with another timer and a RARE timer AND module for Hotpoint 2nd washer/dryer, the 9901. This is one of my wants so hopefully one will turn up and if it is in need of an "intelligence" overhaul then she will get it. Module is tiny though for a washer/dryer, whys that?

9770 is working away again!

James.
