Nice portable Ironrite at (for once) a decent price.

These were some of the last designs produced before Ironrite company closed their doors and are great little units. I should know, have one sitting in my collection.

Properly crated and packed these units will ship easily via UPS. That is how mine came, but make sure the unit is kept UPRIGHT. If turned upside down the grease in the gear box (unlike other Ironrites these units do not use oil, nor is frequent draining and changing of such required) will leak out causing a mess.

And now what you've been waiting for:

That Do Be How It Looks

Unlike other portable ironers that swung up and down (Thor GladIron), the Ironrite shown does not have any sort of spring. One simply raises the thing up and "hook" it onto a slot located at the back of the stand. After one finishes with the ironer the proccedure is reversed for storage.

Personally think it would have taken a strong woman to do this and or at least one with out any infirmities as lifting that ironer into position is *not* exactly light work (again, ask the lady who owns one *LOL*). Unhooking and swinging down the thing isn't easy either. You have to lift the ironer off the hook, then get it clear of the stand to make a clear descent (see how I worked that in?). Am willing to bet wives got their hubby to do it, and or it could have been a factor in limited sales of the unit.
