Is it just me or do LG top load washers never get bearing failure?

I’ve seen reports of GE, Whirlpool (and all its subbrands), Speed Queen, Samsung, Maytag, Frigidaire, and Midea top loaders all getting loud on spin cycle, but NEVER LG. When the top load LG’s do get loud they probably mean a grinding noise rather than a roar.

I’m not even sure if LG uses ball bearings on their top loaders, I have never heard or a top loading LG that was roaring during spin cycle. I’ve heard of grinding sounds on wash or on spin.

Have you’ve ever heard/seen a roaring LG top load? I sure haven’t. LG must be using premium quality bearing paired with good seals.

They do-I junked one about 7-8 years ago it was ~4 yrs old at the time, took out the motor : magnets rubbed the stator (BLDC pancake motor) rust water stains underneath. Also shaft stub driving the plastic with stainless cover washplate was undersized and splines nearly stripped-bad design, VMW better in this regard. LG top load is a P.O.S. in my opinion

That doesn’t sound like a bad bearing. A bad bearing causes a roaring noise. See it much more on VMWs and older Cabrios.

washer was junk before i got it, but i am sure it roared pretty good before the clunking and squeaking started and machine ground to a halt with a ruined (10 year warranty motor :) ) bad seal leaked and got water into the (ball) bearings. As noted splines of washplate were about to strip out and cease agitation also. I junked a '10 VMW cabrio with failed seal/bad bearings, while my collection '10 VMW Cabrio is still running good. BTW wonder if LG would honor "10 year" motor warranty because of failed motor bearings after ~4 years of use? :)

I’ve never heard an LG roar after 4 years. I’ve seen far more whirlpools do that. Same goes for GE. I’ve heard of more speed queens that roared after 4 years than LGs. I’ve even heard of more speed queens roaring within 4 years than LGs. Even my own VMW (2014) has developed a bearing roar.
