Is pentasodium triphosphate a "good" laundry phosphate?

I was looking at the ingredients for a powder laundry detergent, and came across the name "pentasodium triphosphate." My eagle eye latched on the "phosphate" part of the name, and I'm wondering if this is the same as or similar to the phosphates that have disappeared from most detergents.
