Jet.com was an interesting competitor, but I agree, when WM bought it I was done with them.
There was an interesting expose on CNN, I think about the Amazon Basics inexpensive electronic gear (charging cords, etc) and how they basically do -no- QA/QC on it, relying solely on the purchasers and the ratings. Algorithm, again. Some scary stories about how cra**y they are, causing fires etc. I had a cheap charger burn a hole in our carpet/hardwood one time...filled the house w/smoke and odor overnight.
Also saw a recent story on arbitrage using both online clearance stuff (the drop-ship mentioned above from B-B and B) and in-store clearance stuff (looking up then-and-there what it's going for on Amazon and cleaning it out).
I'm glad we've got viable alternatives to WM here in the midwest...I'll use Amazon for arbitrage in the other way (finding price errors on sites like Slickdeals). Fun to see how many different packages you can get in a single $25.22 order
