I just made soup and some other stuff, Believe it or not the Big saute pan hanging over the front of the lower rack fits.
Double soap cups filled on the "Ultra Wash Cycle" this stuff will come out sparkling clean. I'm using Cascade Powder. I will post true results tomorrow at 4:00 AM as I get ready for work. Heated Wash. Not the Pots and pan cycle. I know I'll love the Kd2, The mobile Maid does a great Job , but this machine Kick's Ass

It's a 3 year old KenWhirl. There is a Google Video about this woman complaining the machine doesn't clean . Well, I am very happy with this one. It's a portable and NOT a tall tub. It's all in the racking.

I have the same dishwasher (the WP version) I usually use Heavy Wash, and its rare anything still comes out dirty.

Gotta love that wash system...better than the new models that they have out now. When I had a Whirlpool dishwasher I was amazed at how powerful it was and rarely if anything left dirty in a load.

They do clean surprisingly well!

I have the Whirlpool equivalent more or less to this, a DU950 as my spare in the garage and I have to agree that it does do a great job no matter how dirty the dishes are and I don't scrape or prerinse them.

One thing for sure is you have to use at least the normal cycle and the high temp scrub otherwise the results are not nearly as good. Light cycle is a waste as it doesnt clean for crap but anything more than that with the high temp scrub is good. Takes a long time to wash and rinse so of course that helps. And the silverware never comes clean no matter what. The basket on the door just doesnt get enough water to it.
I have taken to using my old Kenmore rack and the separate silverware basket to get good results.

Silverware Basket

Funny you should mention that Steve,the silverware basket I am using is one half of the splittable from a Maytag. The Kenwhirl came with a basket that took up the whole right side of the machine. It was huge and you never would imagine needing as basket that big. The last place I lived the owners of the house put a Maytag 6 years ago. HORRIBLE MACHINE. 4 repairs in the first 6 months.(2 new motors a touch pad and a drain pump). Anyway when I moved , somehow half of the basket ended up in my kitchen stuff box. Correct, I use the Normal Wash with the Hitemp boost. The domestic hot water here is actually around 140F. So it rarely kicks in. I have noticed that normal,Heavy,and Pots and Pans all have the same sequence : Prewash, Wash,Rinse and Final Rinse. The length of the wash times vary. But always I have had Superior Results.
Now if I could only get the KD2 finished I'm going to have surprise for everyone here at auto.org

Eddie, my 8 month old Kenmore Elite tall tub has a similar size utensil basket. Fortunately it's splittable into 3 sections. I use one section that's probably about the size of the Maytag basket, or a little bit larger. That's all I ever use, even when I have tons of silverware. I prefer having the room in the right side of the lower rack instead and no complaints about anything being dirty afterwards. And personally, I detest those flip-down lids which let you "organize" your utensils as you put them in handles down. I'm not that 'retentive" to be obsessed about that stuff.

WASTED SPACE!

Togs, Talk about wasted space. Not only is that silverware basket oversized(See, Appnut, I can be discrete and avoid the obvious inuendo!)but the rack you have doesn't even go into the recess of the door. I am glad I kept my old Kenmore rack that does that with the whirlpool rack on the door removed and I usually use the good old standard Kitchenaid Blue rack for the silverware which is usually plenty big. Sometimes if I am only doing pots and pans in the Whirlpool Spare.. I use a smaller rack that came out of an 18 inch machine. Holds things in place in just about any corner of the rack

Check those machines at the curbs, Toggle.. get yourself a better and more spacious dish rack. Better for bigger Bob Loads!

In the door silverware basket

One thing I noticed about a couple of the posts was the fact that they never got good results from the door mounted basket. When I had my Whirlpool dishwasher the key to great results with that basket in the door is to load the plates side to side in the front. Straight up and down...not angled or anything like that. That way there is plenty of water getting to the silverware basket. If you place pots and pans in the front it will block the end jets that wash. And if you read the manual it will state what to do for loading. And thats my 3 cents. Oh and when you load the basket mix in each section so that way nothing gets in the way of the wash action...meaning forks knives and spoons mixed evenly...hard to describe really.
