That door frame looks a bit like the Proline earlier Beko door frames to me.

Dan

Sorry I'm not much help!!!

.....

I have to say Darren...it may be a proper one...but it looks a bit "Eurofied!!" No offence to anybody there!

Please clarify, if you can

By "Quartz," does this mean that there is a quartz crystal in its control system?

Changeover!!!

Hi Darren

This is a changeover machine from the ninties, I think it was made here as opposed to Italy.

Have had it on watch for a few days until I knew I could collect, have stuck my bid on it!!!

Laurence: It does indeed have a "Quartz Crystal" computer chip, Servis UK as was, produced the first Quartz computer controlled machine back in 1976, they unveiled it at the yearly big electrical show.

Quartz

There's something of Creda about the dispenser drawer, and also something of the early nineties Elecrolux (in one of the houses on Coronation Street (blushes)) about the door and black and white control panel.

Don't know if it's genuine or an imposter. It doesn't work for me as much as the original quartz, plus I personally loathe washer dryers..might be an interesting machine though I guess

I have a vague recollection from reading about washing machine repairs years ago that Servis and Hitachi collaborated on the design of a washer-dryer.

I have no idea if this machine is it, I just threw that into the pot to see if that jogs anyone's memory.

Chris.

That machine looks like an Electrolux that was sold here in sweden 1994. Even the buttons look the same, however as i now, this machine wasnt a big succes here. I think it was called wh 4442 or something similar. I havent recycle one, just seen in some magazine.

facts

The washing machine in coronation street is HITACHI (in collaboration with servis)it was originally in des's house now charlie stubbs and tracys new house and it was moved to frankie and dannys house.
the washer in des's old house has now been replaced by an hotpoint ultima washer dryer. old WM series.

gail has a zanussi jetsystem in grey

the rovers used to have a purple hotpoint.
Dev has a Hotpoint AQUARIUS CASSATA 1100 in Pistacio Green
ashley and clare only have a silver servis dryer as a washing machine! (look Closely)

lmao

how sad i watch corrie and notice thses things.

YES anyway this machine is the servis/hitachi dating from around 1991 92.

it is NOT an electrolux as the drum is wrong and the door frame not to mention electrolux themselves have never had push button prog selection. the date of this machine is nothing like the electrolux i had of around the same era.

Eileen, Shaun and Jason have a 95 Hotpoint also!! :-D

Had to have my input, I've not seen Dev's washer yet, and didnt know Charlie and Tracy were moving :-O

thanks for the info

Take Care

but previously

when Liz, Jim and the boys lived in the house now occupied by Eileen Shaun and Jason I'm sure it was a Creda.

Emily Roberts used to have an interesting machine, I could never figure out what that was though. In the days when Percy lived there. Anyone help?

The Battersbys have an Ariston.

LOL LOL great thread. Any more `soapy' revelations? Not many washers in Eastenders, they all use the launderette of course! The Queen Vic had a newish Hoover last time I looked, when Alfie moon was in residence. Did that too have a purple Hotpoint before? . Phil Mitchell has an Indesit dishwasher.

Take care all

Mike, any luck with the bidding on the machine the op was about?

Now i've studied it a bit I remember one of these for sale in Debanhams many years ago with the Hitachi badge on.I remember thinking it wasn't the prettiest of machines but at least it was a bit different.
By the way all, my quartz 1300 washer dryer is now up for sale on ebay if anyones interested. I need room! Also the New wave video has just been done and i will post it today plus will do the Merloni Servis easi logic video soon as well just incase anyones remotely interested in it ??? lol

Hitachi....

It looks very much like the Hitachi washers and washer dryers dating from 89-90. These were indeed UK Servis machines although the Eurofication had started :(-from memory they are standard width as opposed to the 22" Servis

soap revelations or should that be revolutions

queen vic never had washer before the hoover. Pat and frank had purple hotpoint in the bed and breakfast. They moved to a house and the electric cooker and fridge freezer moved with them. Cooker was tricity marquis electric cooker.

type with the controls above the rings. Is it just me are were the old electric cookers ugly. I hate the ones with the controls as i described above. 70s style. The fridge freezes they had was iced diamond with circle door handles 70s again? To match liberator washes range?

servis door glass

servis never used glass to make the porthole it was plastic on the 600 small square door to 6033 larger door models. Something unusual i loved about servis. I also loved the long thin drawer and the conditioner bit with syphom tube

servis door

I love the long powder dispenser too on the Servis. It works really well. The plastic doorglass does tend to scratch badly and they seem to be about £34 to replace. Luckily the Quartz washer dryer 9635 has a glass door which stays nice n clear for a good view!

new servis

I luv that new Servis styling its awesome. I'm quite suprised at my easi logic 1400 has some german parts in it. Do you think Servis have improved things??? Certainly its better built than any current Indesit and the top lid is upto the weight and quality of a Miele lid ( ie its very heavy and solid )and what with stainless steel outer tub I was shocked. I cant wait to get my hands on the new 8kg model and look inside. Mind you they still have some way to go with the electrics!

I have to say Steve I do actually like the new design of the Servis washers - and that Rainwave touch is given to them with the old door from the Rainwave series of the 90s. Though I've not seen one in the flesh, I would actually love to try one... believe it or not!!!

It's nice to hear that your EasiLogic is doing well, I certainly did like the webcast of it the other day - I daresay it's a large improvement over the Caress effort?

Jon

caress effort

Yes Jon the Caress i had 2 years ago i picked it up for 35p off ebay it was 12 months old and the main board had gone. I fixed it and used it for 2-3 months and it was awful. It washed and rinsed well but it took ages and ages never reached 40 degrees on cotton programs and it shook violently on spinning and made so much noise. It would just launch into spin and clank like hell. also the powder drawer would shake itself open. Now my new Servis is as smooth as anything. Very gentle run up to spin does a whole wash in just over an hour and never as much as shakes at all its sooo quiet. The only thing thats noisy on it is the drain pump. I luv the four paddles they throw loads of water over the clothes even though water levels are very low and makes a lovely slopping noise. will get a vid done soon of it in action for all to see.
