ISE Evolution Compact - Newer vs Older Versions?

Hey folks, we're looking to replace our disposal as part of a light kitchen refresh, and have read a lot of good reviews about the InSinkErator Evolution Compact.

However, there appear to be two versions of it - one older, and one newer. The specs are nearly identical, save for the change in outer styling that slightly increases the diameter, and a slight reduction of the shipping weight. The new version advertises as being part of the "Quiet Series", but the older actually has more sound reduction bullet points listed. I can't see that ISE ever advertised or promoted any changes/improvements, and both models bear the same name ("Evolution Compact").

Does anyone happen to know if one version is preferable over the other? Any real changes other than the styling?

I can't quite pin down when this disposal was updated... sometime between 2014 and 2017?

I have this model under my sink. It is very quiet and does an amazing job getting rid of whatever I put down in it. Not once a clogged pipe either....My pig is just a year old as well...pig aka garbage disposal ...

It's a New Brunswick thing, too.  I know lots of folks in that province that refer to their disposal as a "cochon" or pig...

I have had the Evolution Compact since February 2011 and have not had any problems, it is used many times a day. We bought this house as a foreclosure and it had the builders grade Badger, first time I tried to turn it on made such a racket. Here there were rocks in it from the previous owners. We heard from our neighbors the previous owners grew "PLANTS" in the house, if you know what I mean before the bank kicked them out. The medicine cabinet in the master bath had some chemical formulas and a bunch of phone numbers on it, vanity had Bunsen burner marks. I never thought to take a picture of it(with in an hour of taking possession of the house my wife had me down Lowes buying a new medicine and vanity cabinet.) The bank redid the whole inside of the house except kitchen and appliances we replaced them with all GE Profile and a new giant Stainless Steel sink and the Evolution Disposer. I bought a second black splash guard and dishwasher them every so often.

This is my Evolution Compact, installed February 2011.

I've had both of them. In my last house I had the compact and this one has the space saver. Both work great and neither have ever had a clog

Are there any gbs that have built-in flusher nozzles that would connect to the fresh water plumbing and purge the walls of the chamber when the motors running?

In the 70s our family used to do christmas parties and rent a hall or convention party room in Omro, WI. It had a large kitchen with lots of counter space, double appliances, and a sink with no faucet but a garbage disposal that when you hit the switch it would automatically spray water into the chamber when the motor was grinding. I've never seen anything like that since. It was probably a commercial line?

Interesting thing about Canada.

They speak proper English, they don't waste food and plug up their sewers, and a lot of homes have central vacuum.
Impressive.

It's the same thing they've been making for like 50 years. The only difference is the shape of the insulation cover on the outside, if it has insulation.

And the price's here. Manufacturer website price always seem to be ridiculous that way when you go to a local retailer, where they are most likely cheaper, you think you're getting "a good deal".

When I'd buy a bol disposal for my rentals in the mid 90s, I always got a Badger or ISE, whatever the name they used. It was the exact shape but it was $29. Have prices gone up THAT much since 1996?

And look at their price for the "Evolution". ....that name. pah-leeze

It is also by far the most ecological way to recycle food wastes.

 

It gets the food waste into recycling in less than 24 hours, no stinky waste sitting around, no mice or rats or even fruit flies in homes or alleys etc.

 

No stinky pales of garbage in kitchens or sitting out for pick-up on the curb attracting animals.

 

Operating costs of a disposer are less than 50 cents a year for electricity and just a few dollars in cold water, much better than having diesel trucks driving around the neighborhood picking up waste and leaking stinking liquids on the streets, every city should be like our Nationals Capital and REQUIRE food waste disposers in every home and food service establishment.

I am with John----I use my dispoer all of the time-and it drains into a septic tank.No problem!!Been using it for several years now.Go to YouTube and watch trash truck compactor videos-You can tell the "trash" rich in food waste-the compactor blade crushes the trash with like over 50 tons of force.You see the results dripping back down into the truck hopper-trashmen call this "garbage juice".Now if the homes the truck collects from have disposers-you would see much less trash juice!!!And the hopper has a skupper drain so this stuff as John says drains back into the streets.Better the waste goes into the sewer or the septic tank.
