Yesterday I replaced my ISE 777ss with the Evolution Compact. The first thing is it is unbelievably quiet. I'm not crazy about the splash guard but I can deal with it. The thing that did bother me was that it seems to take much longer to grind food than any other disposer that I've ever had. I emailed In Sink Erator and got an interesting reply:
Dear Michael,
Thank you for writing to InSinkErator.
We understand that you have an inquiry regarding the disposer.
You mentioned that your Evolution Compact grinds the food waste longer compared to your older unit. With the Evolution Disposer Line, our focus is on the fineness of grind, rather than the speed of grind. This effort is to virtually eliminate any drain line blockages due to food waste. The standard line and previous deluxe models have food waste forced by the impellers through a grind ring with 29 large “V” shaped openings. Your Evolution Compact has 40 smaller “window” openings in the grind ring that the waste is forced through. Due to this it may take slightly longer to grind certain items than before.
Should you have any other questions, please let us know.
I knew that they had a grind shear ring, but didn't know it was completely redesigned.
