Hello Everyone:

So, we are in the process of a kitchen remodel. We have an ISE Evolution Excel disposer which I’ve been extremely happy with. We only use it, on average, 3-4 times a week. It’s not seen heavy use.

Should I keep it and use it with the new sink or just replace it?

I wanted to get the thoughts of the group. Knowing build quality gets cheaper all the time, I’d hate to get rid of a good performer if the new stuff is not as good.

Thanks
Bob

I think the Evolution series is worth keeping, particularly since it hasn't seen much use.

Matt, I really wish we had removed our Maytag disposer before we sold our first house.  It was a steal at $29 for a brand new open box complete unit back in 1990.  There's a Badger under our sink now, which was here when we bought our current place five years ago.  I'm going to keep an eye out for a Maytag because we all know the Badger is going to fail soon one way or another.

good machine

ISE makes a good quality, solid disposal. I have had MANY if them. I have had that exact same unit. A good grinder, very quiet and almost no vibration transfer to the sink. It is almost impossible to jam.

ISE is the last standing U.S. maker of disposers, and is now owned by Whirlpool. If you do decide to get a new one, unless you purchase ISE you will be getting Chinese craftsmanship, which often leaves much to be desired, to say the least.

However, there is little reason to purchase a new one since the Evolution Excel should give you many additional years of good service.
