It Finally Came!!!!

After waiting almost two suspensful weeks, my (almost) new Sanitaire SC887 arrived!! However, I must mention that the seller advertised an SC886 which is the one I really wanted... Anyway, the difference between the two is that the SC886 has a regular bag, and the SC887 is, I guess, "half" bagless. Anyway, if anyone has an extra bag and would like to trade or sell it to me, let me know...

Jamie, awesome vac, congrats! You will have a lot of fun with this one; great machine with a VERY powerful motor, 50 ft. cord, and a Vibra-Groomer that does an outstanding job on rugs! Not to mention it will probably last forever. As far as the bags are concerned, be glad you have the dirt cup on yours!! I have that dreaded cloth shakeout bag on my SC899, and it is an absolute b**ch to empty and clean! Now if you're talking about the outer bag that can accept disposable bags, that's definitely more convenient than the two others...not too hard to find.

Neat machine-the vac store out here has one-and the contrac tors that cleaned the building where I used to work used those same Sanitaire machines.I have a Koblentz that has a similar bag and dump bin.Those are sort of neat.A surprizing amount of dust will cling to the upper cloth filter bag-I used a canister vac and crevice tool to clean the fine dust out-The dust doesn't always fall into the bin.Sadly the contractor machines were terribly misused and maintained-worn fans and cracked fan cases put down their machines performance.Also their brushrolls were badly worn.Since yours is in a home-and its a commercial vac-it will give you fine service.the heavy guage cord cable and plug will meet modern OSHA safety standards when used commercially.Now just about all commercail vacs have the heavy guage cords and 3 pin plugs.The outer cloth bags that use the paper inserts should be available at just about any vac store.Eureka F&G bag systems are very common.Best bet is try to find a dealer that carries Sanitaire products.

i once washed a GENUINE Eureka bag like this one (aftermarket versions are different). and the white lining flaked and rubbed off. the lining/white layer allows the bulk of the dirt to easily slide out, unlike the older cotton bags. if your Sanitaire bag is cotton, without the white layer inside, it is either an older Eureka bag or an imitation. i prefer the older style cotton bags, since the white layer on the inside of the current bags wears off, and allows much fine dust to escape once this happens. i HATE the dirt cups. Hoovers is the worst. the seal never lasts and the plastic ring that joins with the cup looses its shape and the Hoover fabric layers to separate. Pulsator, since the seller sent you the *wrong* cleaner, why not persuade them to send you the correct bag?
