Found this thrifting.

My mother had a Lifetime brand set of pots and pans and always made coffee in this Lifetime stainless steel drip pot atop her 50's Hotpoint 40" stove.

No filter required either?

That coffee pot is just begging to be taken camping.

Camping????

Pouring the coffee into a pink cup, maybe. But a feather boa around the handle would just be overkill.

I have the same question as rpm: How does this thing work without a coffee filter?

Gary my mom used a similar coffeemaker for many years as well. I believe hers was made by Wearever. They do make great coffee.

Small holes make for better results.

the bottom hole sint he coffe area are the same size you;d see in a percolator. The hole in the top diffuser plate are TINY.

I guess we need more pics.....

Methinks the diffuser plate is made of alumin(i)um rather than stainless-steel, which kills it for me. :-)

And if one feels the need to use a coffee filter. Feel free: Gadget's mom used one, so I'm told.

The beach shack we used to rent had an ancient version of this type of coffee maker. Until more outlets were added so I could bring an auto-drip maker, that beater old aluminum drip pot was all I used even though other quaint old options were available. Nice find. I'd grab one if I ever saw one of this type. They are indeed perfect for camping.

Coffee Maker!

Hi Gary,
I saw these types of units before. Just how do you know how much time is needed to brew. How much different is this from a regular perk?
Peter

The time neeed is simply the time needed to first boil the water in another vessel and then the time needed for it to drip through the coffee-maker.

Like a percolator, except water passes through grounds once. Does not recirculate.

Without the "second stor(e)y" it looks like a percolator without the stem and basket.

I wonder if the water coould be boiled in the bottom, traasferred to (poured over) the top and then quickly have the unit be put back together to recover the finsihed product, but without spillage. HMMMMMM
:-)

Cajun Coffee Pot

That's what I called them, cause all the old Cajun women in Lousiana made du cafe' in one-a-dem lil' pots.

My Aunt Hazel STILL to this very day makes it like that.
